I just booked a trip for my wife and I from 7/20-7/24 because we wanted a weekend getaway in the summer.

We will do some hiking and spend some time at the casinos. Other than that, we have no idea what to do.

Who has been there in the summer time that can give me some ideas of things to do and places to eat?

We are very excited!

Great month. Rent a boat at the North End of the lake for at least a few hours.

You can also go white water rafting also north of the lake. About 30 minutes away on the Truckee.

Ps. Take a swimsuit and a jacket. You’ll need both

I went in August 2020 and had a good time. Stayed the Hyatt Regency in Incline.

Enjoyed the Eagle Lake hike, taking the gondola up at Heavenly and rode the alpine coaster etc. There's a bike trail on the east side of the lake that's nice too. Pick up the bike outside Tunnel Creek cafe.

Couple beaches over there, Chimney Beach, Secret beach and so on. Beautiful area.

Went in November. Hike DL Bliss State park. You can drive all the way down to the beach or hike in along the lake from the road.

We had to hike in because the park was closed to all but hikers.

Also Sand Harbor Beach in Nevada is cool for a hang out spot.

I was the only one on Eagle Lake hike at sunrise. Was a good call.

Dinner at the edgewood at sunset. Fantastic spot and amazing views.. make a reservation at the brooks bar next to the golf course about an hour before dinner and have some drinks while watching the sun go down over the mountains

Highly recommend this. If you are in shape, swim to the island in the middle.

Also recommend renting a boat, but be mindful of the California fires. We rented a boat September of 2020 and the wind blew the smoke all over the lake. We couldnt see shite.

Lots of good info in here but one on my favs to do there is rent kayaks early in day at Kings Beach and row east 1/4 mile and float around and thru the massive boulders in the water. Incredible sights . Enjoy my favorite most unaffordable spot in the US.
And check Harvey concert calendar. Incredible venue and summer concert series is usually good.

For dining check out the Sage Room at the top of the Harvey's Lake Tahoe....Excellent view. Make a reservation.

Gordon Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen is overrated.

A few other excellent places to get food....Lucky Beaver in South Lake Tahoe, Basecamp Pizza, and Taste of Europe.

Make your way to Palisades Tahoe, cute lil ski resort village. The wood fired pizza restaurant and Irish pub are both great restaurants. Gondola rides up the mountain with a bar up top. Winter Olympics were hosted there in the 60’s and there’s a building dedicated to that.

Emerald Isle is gorgeous, head there with the boat if you do rent. There are sand beaches all around the lake with crystal clear water for swimming

Me and the gf are looking to go ourselves in august. I’ve never been and she’s travelled to a lot of places and says it’s one of her favorite places she’s ever been. It looks like almost everything is sold out for our dates (Aug 9-14) except the casinos and Beach Retreat and Lodge in South Lake Tahoe. Anybody been to the latter?

I second this. We have our bikini pageant there the last week of June and it is a real good venue

If that's what I am thinking of, South Lake Tahoe directly across the street from a Safeway, avoid it like the plague.

Try and get an airbnb.
