In this tiny pool of water in the middle of the Sahara, in a canyon, Crocodiles live:

Pretty amazing. They have no way out since there is no other body of water.

I couldn't imagine that sucker would ever have trouble finding food with all the wildlife having to drink there. Must be nice.

Basically my dream. My scaly dudes had enough of the world and just decided to peace out to the camp for good with no cell phone. Then documentarians show up to gawk.

Off topic but it's a shame Ethiopia can't get their shite together. The countryside looks beautiful and would likely be a tourist destination.

That croc's family tree must be pretty bama-ish.

That is 50% why these amazing crocodiles stick around here, other half being the rare water hole. I don't see any other slice of this pie being credited to any other reason

I thought this would be a video about the crocodiles.

I was wrong (they aren't even mentioned until about 8.5 minutes in).

ETA: And this kid is just traipsing through it like it's no big deal.

Q: What do you call an Ethiopian with a yeast infection?
.
A: A Quarter Pounder With Cheese.

The noises those camels make is what I imagine a room full of Reddit mods sounds like

Indeed. Timeline makes some really good stuff.

Crocodilians are true warriors. Survived the dinosaur extinction and live in canyons in the middle of the desert.

This is how they survive: https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/guelta-darchei

quote:

The best-known remaining population in Chad is found in the Guelta d’Archei, where West African crocodiles eat the fish that thrive on the algae-rich waters of the camel-dung fertilized guelta.
