Here it is. Adrian Belew Lone Rhino. One of a few vinyls on hand. Definitely a keeper. Play it on a sound system at full blast.

True story: his daughter was a bartender at the Flying Saucer in Nashville. I used to hang out there and ask her stories about her dad.

Great album btw.

Seriously enjoy his music. Lyrics and sounds on the Lone Rhino album in particular.

Great album. Discipline is so good. I hoped he would get back together with Fripp during the last few years, but Fripp chose to do some older stuff on the last tour.

Great album. First Belew album I heard. He’s an underrated genius. And played with a bunch of bands. He played with Zappa (check out Sheik Yerbouti). He played with Bowie, Talking Heads, Paul Simon, Nine Inch Nails, and of course King Crimson. His solo stuff is great. His own band is great. And you should definitely check out The Bears. Psychedelic pop at its finest.

His work with Talking Heads on Remain in Light is legendary.

I wore that album out back in the 80s.

I have Desire of the Rhino King on CD. Its a compilation from his first three albums - Lone Rhino, Twang Bar King, and Desire Caught By the Tail. I’ve also got a bunch of his solo albums and a number of bootlegs of his live solo shows. I’ve seen him with King Crimson and the side ProjeKct X (where he played drums). I forget which disappointing Buckeye football loss it was but I remember going to see him perform a free live solo acoustic show outside some art gallery that night. I got him to personalize an autograph of a CD at one of his power trio shows, telling him that that’s how he would know I wasn’t going to sell it on eBay. At one of his shows I jokingly shouted out a request for “Freebird!” and he gave me the finger and said, “I’ve got your free bird right here.” Lol. That was awesome.

I’ve seen him with The Bears in some really small clubs, including in his hometown of Covington, KY. RIP Southgate House but the Barrel House in Dayton was a lot smaller and more intimate.

In early 2003 I saw King Crimson in Chicago at Park West and I was on the floor not far from the stage. I was wearing an OSU sweatshirt and singing along to the songs from the Heavy ConstruKction album and I am certain, absolutely certain, that Adrian was looking at me and recognized me. And noticed that I knew all the lyrics.
