Just saw it posted by the Depeche Mode page on FB. I don’t see any news outlets posting anything yet. Sad day

This was tough news to hear today. Favorite band since I was 11 years old. Countless shows I've seen over the years. Their recent output was less than stellar but I've held on hope they had one more great album in them. Andy didn't contribute musically, but he was the glue of that band. This late in the game I don't think DM goes on. Sad day.

Got to see DM once in New Orleans way back in 2001. I don't think they were ever in Louisiana again.

Still listen to them all the time.

Saw them on the Music for the Masses tour at UNO arena with OMD if I recall correctly. We went to Bart's on the Lake afterwards where I spent part of the night clowning with the lead singer of Cameo. He denied it was him all night, then admitted his identity when he was leaving to get in a limo.

Gahan almost died in Louisiana after having a heart attack from an OD while they were performing at UNO and had to be rushed to the hospital before the concert ended. They were so bad off at that time that Fletcher said they just went to the afterparty where they had lesbian strippers, etc.

And Martin Gore said he was so bad off with his drinking that he had a seizure on a swamp boat tour and fortunately fell forward when he passed out because he said he otherwise would have fallen into alligator infested waters.

So they had a colorful history in Louisiana. Sad news though about Fletcher.

Filmed the "Freelove" video in New Orleans on the three day break before the 2001 concert. Also came back to Louisiana to do the promo and liner photos for Delta Machine album. In spite of that they never played another show in LA unfortunately. Had to go to Houston to see their subsequent tours.
