PSA for Golf Board Posters ... IT'S BACK!!! The Dick's/Callaway U.S. Open Give-a-way....

So, last year, about a day or two before the U.S. Open, CoachChappy made a post in jest about whether anyone bought a Callaway driver from Dick's so that they could enter the Give-a-Way contest for the U.S. Open.
I realized that in the past you could go to Dick's and pick up an entry without having to actually buy a driver (nonreturnable) in advance. So, I went to the official RULES webpage and discovered that you only needed to send in an entry via snail mail to enter. Unfortunately, there was only a day or two to enter so not too many of us actually did it. Many posters were disappointed that they missed sending in an entry.
But, a few of us did pick Jon Rahm and actually won a $550 driver.
So, as a PSA, I am going to give Golf Board posters a few weeks notice on entering this year's contest. To be fair, I had kind of forgot about it but I saw a commercial yesterday watching the Colonial and looked it up online.
So....
HERE is the official page. That page sends you to a PDF of the official rules. The official rules provide:
Last year, you got to choose from about 7-8 players. This year, there are only 3 players to choose from. But, they are the 3 best players Callaway sponsors, including LSU's Sam Burns (who wasn't available last year). Xander Schauffele and Jon Rahm are the other two.
So, to make it simple, here's what you need to do. Address your entry to the following:
Links Unlimited
ATTN: If Callaway Wins, You Win
1101 Regina Graeter Way
Cincinnati, Ohio 45216
Then, your entry should include:
Name:
D.O.B.:
Mailing Address:
Email Address:
Callaway Staffer:
One final note -- The rules seem to suggest that there can only be one entry (with one choice) per address. However, after the contest last year, several people said on a Reddit string that they had sent separate entries picking separate players from different people in their household. Many were worried that they would be disqualified for doing so. However, the administrator, Links Unlimited, apparently didn't really check that and sent them a driver for picking Jon Rahm. So, if you want to enter 3 different people from your address picking all three Staffers, you can try that.
On the other hand, most of us just sent in several entries using the addresses of friends and family that we knew wouldn't be interested in the contest so that we maximized our chances of winning just one driver.
So, if you want to take your chances with multiple entries from the same household (but with separate mailings), do so at your own risk. It would have paid off last year. As I recall, there were approximately 1,700 winners last year.

PARTICIPATE BY MAIL-IN ENTRY (NO PURCHASE NECESSARY): To participate without purchasing a Promotional Item, send your first name, last name, date of birth, mailing address, email address, and your selection as to which Callaway Staffer you believe will win the U.S. Open in an envelope (with proper postage affixed) to: Links Unlimited; ATTN: If Callaway Wins, You Win; 1101 Regina Graeter Way, Cincinnati, Ohio 45216. Submissions must be postmarked by June 15, 2022 and received no later than June 22, 2022. Submissions will not be acknowledged or returned, and proof of sending will not be deemed proof that the submission was received. Your entry entitles you to pick only one Callaway Staffer who you believe will win the U.S. Open. Once you have made your selection, your choice is final. You will not be able to change your selection of Callaway Staffer regardless of any changes in tournament participation or if the Callaway Staffer withdraws or cannot compete for any reason. Questions:
1. You have to buy the driver first, then you get reimbursed if your pro wins?
2. Do you have to buy the driver at Dick’s? I looks like they reimburse you with a Dicks card. Or do you just get $599 credit that you can use at Dicks in addition to the money you spent for the driver?

Don’t have to buy to win. Just send a letter with your name, address, dob, etc and who you think will win

I've diagnosed him as autistic from that post, cut him some slack.

Don’t conflate autism with being an idiot.

I’m still not confident I will hear from dicks/callaway if my selected player wins

Have faith. If you look at the Reddit string that is linked in last year‘s string, you’ll see a ton of people who were worried that they had somehow screwed up their application or didn’t get it in in time. In the end, I don’t recall anyone being upset about not getting a driver.
Neither Dick's nor Callaway is involved in informing the winners. It’s some outfit named Links Unlimited out of Cincinnati that seemed to be very laxed about the rules. They were also VERY good about communicating with the winners in the month it took to get us our drivers.
Last year, if you sent in an entry with Jon Rahm, you got a driver. Even people who had three or four people applying from the same home got their driverS.
So, once again, have faith.
ETA: The way it worked last year once Jon Rahm won is that it took Links Unlimited about 3 to 4 weeks to compile a list of all the winners. During those three or four weeks, you could write or call them and they would let you know your status. At the end of the three or four weeks, they would let you know by email if you had won. In that email, they gave you a code. With that code, you simply went on the Callaway website and built your driver. You could get a longer shaft, a custom grip, a number of different graphite shafts, etc., just like you would ordinarily go to their website and build a driver. If you wanted a really custom grip or shaft, you could pay more. Once you built your driver, you put in the code that was sent to you by email from Links Unlimited into the promo code box just like you would do with just about any other promo code on the Internet. From reading the Reddit string, I learned that some people just sold their code and allowed the buyer to custom built his own driver.
Most of us were told on the final screen that it would take about two weeks for your driver to arrive – especially those of us who built a custom driver. We wound up getting our drivers within two days. They did give you the option to pay expedited shipping through FedEx, but in the end that would’ve been a waste of money as they FedEx'd the driver to those of us who didn’t pay that fee.

So, with the leader at -5, all Callaway golfers made the cut and are still in contention....
Rahm -4
Burns -2
Schauffele -1
Keep the faith!!!!

Including myself, I've got 2 family members/friends who are each rooting for Rahm, Burns, OR Schauffelle.
I did tell them all so they know!
