Anyone have a recommendation outside of THC products?
by 7-8 pm im at 2300 or so cals and 200 protein. id love to get another 40-50 protein in without feeling like im force feeding myself, but by that point i have zero appetite.

How much are you eating between 7 am and noon?
Posted on 6/7/22 at 1:25 pm to pwejr88
About 1100 cals and 100 protein with 12-12:30 adding 40 protein and 600 cals.

That means you’re only eating 600 calories between 12:30 pm and 7:00 pm. There’s your issue.

Go to Taco Bell?

wrong time of year for that. you should be cutting and looking for appetite suppressants

I wish I could be in your shoes. During the height of my Ironman training I could put away 6,000+ calories in a single sitting and still be hungry.
Be careful what you wish for...

Mass Gainer Shakes. Add 1 of those before bed and you add an extra 800-900 Calories.
GNC Mass Gainer
I use this when I'm bulking.

There’s always room for a bowl of ice cream at 11:00 pm.

thats kinda of what ive have been doing. the halo protein icecream pints. at least its easy to put down.
and to Blake, yes i understand its a good problem to have. most guys who lift are crushing calories and still hungry. Here i am bitching about having to eat extra ice cream.

Why are you eating only 600 calories from noon to 7 pm?
Any specific reason?

I used Periactin back in my bodybuilding days. Was getting it from overseas no idea if it is even available now? It worked.

Lifting doesn't burn many calories unless you structure your lifts in a way to ensure your heart rate is elevated throughout the session(high reps per set, short rest times), but even then you're not going to burn as many calories lifting as you will via cardio.
According to my Garmin I burned 260 calories today during my 1 hour 15 minute gym session. Meanwhile my 50 minute run I did yesterday I burned 645. Nearly 3x the calories despite 25 less minutes.

Not true. If lifting properly you will burn tons of calories. You will also burn calories continuously as you repair the torn fibers in your muscles over the next 48 hours. If you don’t get sore, this will not apply.

I worked out 5 minutes longer than you and burned 760 calories. No HIIT. Very little hypertrophy. I don’t know what you’re doing but I would burn 260 calories walking to my shaker bottle in between sets.
Cardio is great for losing weight but unless you know what you’re doing in the gym you will be skinny fat or have loose skin all over.

That’s not what I posted (or intended to) but is getting interpreted as. I eat about 600-700 for lunch with around 50 grams protein.
Another 4-500 in the early afternoon. So typically by “dinner time” (7ish) im in the 2000 cal 180 protein range with no appetite. I’ll usually try to eat 5-6 oz lean protein then but it’s just not enjoyable at that point. A lot nights it’s a “ugh, let’s eat this and get it over with”.

Gotcha.
What about protein shakes or smoothies in the evening?
Fairlife 42g have 240 calories and 14 oz.
Fairlife 30g have 150 calories and 11 oz.
A whey protein shake/mass gainer can have anywhere from 200-1,400 calories. Throw in milk and even more calories.

probably what i will start doing honestly. was just hoping someone had some type of natural appetite stimulant or something they have used before. i just try not to over rely on shakes and gainers and stick with as much whole food as possible. 45 grams of protein are already from post workout whey.
i'll just scratch this up to another change of getting older. didnt have this problem 5 years ago

What's your breakfast look like? Eat as soon as you can after waking up. I scramble about 20-25 eggs with a pound of ground turkey and spinach and roll that into burritos and it lasts me about 4-5 days with some fruit and yogurt. There's a reason Intermittent fasting works. If you don't break that fast right away it lowers your appetite.
Add olive oil to your foods. Easy way to get a lot more calories through healthy fats.
This is where you add liquid calories such as protein shakes since they're less filling.

Define "lifting properly." Lifting to get strong- heavy weight, long rest periods, compound lifts isn't really aerobic.

Everything I've read says soreness isn't a reliable indicator. It is true that your body will burn more calories to repair muscle fibers. Maintaining muscle in general is calorically expensive which is why people with greater muscle mass have faster metabolisms

Those calorie burning measurement tools tend to be wrong and im assuming youre exaggerating or I'd bet yours is. Additionally your body adapts very quickly to cardio. If you run 5 miles a day you will burn much more calories on day 1 than day 20.
