I’ve read over everything several times. There has to be a catch.

Also, this is kind of creepy

ETA: It may be legit, here is a thread on reddit from 2019 re: "Review of UTO Vacation's $299 China Tour" fwiw

It is a little sketchy the price is the same

Review of UTO Vacation's $299 China Tour

quote:

So, at base price, with the visa application, we started at $709.

TL;DR: If this is your first trip to China, I would absolutely recommend it. It is not a scam in that you really will go to China, you will stay in actual hotels, and be able to see the country. You do have to sit through numerous sales pitches. If you are someone who cannot say no or give in to high pressure sales tactics, you will end up spending a lot of money. If you can stand up to that, it really is an amazing deal.

Sounds like they try and get you to buy a lot of shite along the way. Great reddit post (and comments from others that have been on the trip) there if you are seriously considering it.

Really just you can only fly out of NY or LA on certain days. It is promotional so if you can do it go for it

The way China seems to be operating with COVID this seems like a hard pass to me.

i'd pay 5x that amount not to have to sit through another one of those.

This one says you won’t need a Chinese visa.

Nice deal, maybe in different times I’d jump on it.

I know some people hate Barstool but the Wonton Don is awesome. He lived in China for several years and did this “interview” with a friend who is still there. As long as the current party remains in charge, I’ll never set foot in the country. Too many other places to see.

D: So in the last 53 days, the only time you've left the house is either to take out your trash or to get a test?

B: Yeah, and take out my trash is only open my door and set my trash outside.

D: Oh, I thought they would at least let you walk down.

B: No, I put it outside my door and then someone comes to my door and sprays it with a Ghostbuster gun of bleach. And then they carry it down. And we’re only allowed to order food through group orders. Which means we have to organize among ourselves. So we have chat groups within our building. And someone will be like looking and say, “Oh, we want butter. Can we get like 100 people to buy butter with us?” And then we can get butter. We got Shake Shack. This was ridiculous, man. For Shake Shack the minimum order is 1,000 USD. So you have to get enough people in your building to order Shake Shack. And it comes a week later. And it was just like ice cold.

quote:

So they have the cubicles with the cots, they have the porta potty room. They give you a couple of sheets and a little bucket to do your washing because they don't have showers. They've got a sink. They give you kind of a packaged meal that looks like a school lunch packet and you get a couple of bottles of water and that's about it. My friends that have been there said they don't give you enough water. I think they give you enough food, but the food is is terrible. And I've heard they don't shut off the lights. So there's like huge bright lights like in a stadium that are on all day. Super noisy, super smelly. And they actually have worse ones that are more temporary, like a bunch of small tents outside. They've started to take over some schools and turning them into covid camps too because they're running out of space. In fact, actually, this week there's a new policy where they said, if anyone in your building gets COVID, they want to send all of you to these COVID camps. So that's the big new panic.

I want to add that I think this itinerary sucks.

Beijing
Bangkok
Pattaya in 8 days? No thanks.

I'd rather skip China altogether and definitely do Chiang Mai and somewhere else besides Pattaya for the beach part (There's a ton of islands to choose from). Add a couple days to the trip and make an easy flight to Siem Reap in Cambodia.

I liked Bangkok but people either like or dislike cities.
