The Mike Love Beach Boys will be at the River Center on Oct. 5. They still put on a hell of a show even if it is a little cheesy.

Article on the Mike Love/Brian Wilson feud: LINK

quote:

However, it has never been plain sailing for the California troupe. The band are no stranger to bad blood, creative differences and tragedy. The most defining feature of the band’s darker side is the Shakesperean rivalry between Brian Wilson and Mike Love. Their rivalry is so bitter and deeply entrenched that there is almost no possibility of them reconciling. There is no love lost on either side. Brian Wilson has been particularly vocal about his disdain for his former bandmate. Whilst neither of the pair are whiter than white, it is not ridiculous to posit that Love has come to embody an antagonistic role for Wilson in the media. In Vanity Fair, Love acknowledged that: “For those who believe that Brian walks on water, I will always be the Antichrist.” Using the media as their battleground, Wilson has mocked Love’s singing voice and even gone as far as proclaiming: “I don’t like Mike Love at all. I don’t like his attitude. He’s too egotistical.” It is absolute statements like this that have had fans wondering why Brian Wilson hates Mike Love so much. It turns out there are a few reasons, and the feud started all the way back in 1966 with the recording sessions for Pet Sounds.

One for sure (Mike Love), two if you count Bruce Johnston who joined in 1965.

Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Carl Wilson, Dennis Wilson and David Marks are the original lineup. Al Jardine joined in the early 60s and Marks left. Bruce Johnston joined in the mid 60s. Dennis Wilson died in the early 80s and Carl Wilson died in the late 90s.

Last time Brian Wilson and Mike Love have been on stage together was in 2012. Brian Wilson is on tour with Al Jardine and Blondie Chaplain who joined the Beach Boys for a few years in the mid 70s.

Both the Mike Love Beach Boys version and Brian Wilson put on good shows because their bands are so good, but Mike Love is in much better shape both vocally and physically than Brian Wilson is and Mike can still carry a show.

I think the Lorrie Morgan version of Don’t Worry Baby is one of the best things they ever did.

It's unfortunate that they continue the feud aside from being bandmates, they are first cousins....so it's a family feud as well.

I agree, but Brian probably shouldn't be touring with the shape he is in currently.

Brian’s not gonna be around too much longer. I need to see him before that happens

He's on tour now. The band does a great job, but Brian doesn't do much anymore if anything at all. He gets wheeled out and propped up on his piano and that is about it. Kind of sad that he is still touring because I'm not sure if it is his choice.
