I think the Democrats will do another $10K around this time in 2024. And another one two years after that one.
Young people will keep voting Democrat for 100 years.
I have to hand it to Democrats, they are just so much better at the political game than Republicans. It’s not close.
Notice I didn’t say policy, I said political game.

And the cost of attending universities will go up accordingly.

Let’s put it this way. I have the liquid capital to pay mine off tomorrow. And I’m paying the bare minimum in January when it kicks back up.
Have to be out of your mind if you owe anything over a couple grand to not just pay the minimum at this point.
This is what democrat policy incentivizes.

I just find it odd, the people who need it the most havent been paying anyway. So its not like their situation will magically change

Of course it will be repeated. The ultimate goal is free public college for everyone, then the Federal Government can control education from pre-k through college and decide who gets it for free and who gets to pay for it

Almost like a pyramid scheme.
At taxpayer and student expense.

It is easier to be a politician for a party with no ethics

Who knew destroying the economy was a political game? Great analysis

You are comparing farming subsidies to paying off school loans for a group of people who contribute far less than farmers? Definitely a Democrat voter, zero critical thinking skills

You forgot to include the link to the story from which you posted that quote. You did just register on the site today so maybe you're unfamiliar with the posting system but I found the article and linked it: NYT LINK
The last paragraph is also important:
The last paragraph is also important:
quote:
“For the first time in history, a president has repeatedly usurped congressional authority in order to personally dispense tens of billions of dollars in federal farm subsidy payments that would not otherwise have been paid,” said Ken Cook, president of Environmental Working Group, an advocacy organization that has been tracking the agriculture payments. “This is an authoritarian power grab used to buy political support from voters who are essential to his re-election.”

Well lets see if any one acts
The Congressional Review Act of 1996 gives Congress the ability to overturn new regulations within 60 legislative days by passing a joint resolution. If Congress does not do this, it is a sign that the new regulations are consistent with the intent of Congress. This eliminates one of the primary legal arguments against broad student loan forgiveness. The regulatory changes also benefit from clear statements of regulatory authority in the statute and the precedent set by prior use of this regulatory authority.
