11, 4, 2 year old girls.. any recs on where to go/stay?
30A? Portofino Island? Something cheaper like orange beach since 4 and 2 year old won’t care anyway? Or do something like a quick weekend at a place like that Grand in Fairhope instead?

depends your budget. Everyone is different.

Price bump there last time I checked.

All other places you can find reasonable stuff, reach out direct if looking for shorter stays since sometimes places will only let you book online for longer stays 3,5,7 days only... sometimes get great deals messaging/email direct to owner or rental place.

It's a very open ended question. Depends a lot on what you want to do with the kids and how much you want to spend.

Yes the Portifino Resort is nice, but you do have to cross the road and make a little walk to get to the beach.

You can look at the Beach Club in Ft. Morgan for a good resort that's a little cheaper.

The Perdido Beach Resort in Orange Beach is nice.

Destin West Resort is a good value place.

And yes, the Grand in Point Clear is nice, but the beach is not very good of course.

It all depends in where you want to be and what you want. The Gulf Coast is a big area.

We used to do the Phoenix hotels to give them more to do, but then went with renting a beach house through VRBO and felt the extra costs were well worth it. Stayed at Sanders Beach in Pensacola. Kept us close enough to go out to dinner, and do some of the touristy things (tourist trap shops, Laguna's Beach)

Beach to yourself, don't need to deal with crowds, younger kids need a nap you can easily bring them in while the older one stays outside (we brough our own monitors and were able to sit on the edge of the range), full kitchen & laundry room.

Many of the houses we checked out also had kayaks included with the rental so you're not just on the beach. Had a nice back patio to enjoy the early morning coffee, hangout when kids were napping, watch the inevitable rain shower roll through...

Those kids will be bored out of their minds. Not much for kids in Fairhope.

If you want a quick trip 2-3 day and don't care about the beach. Check out Centennial Plaza in Gulfport. Huge splash pad area for little kids and nice pool area and lazy river. Way cheaper that the Grand too. Beach is not bad but its not FL beaches/water.

Do y’all have another family to travel with?

Yup. Best to rent a house on a lake with close beach access as well. This house is a good example:
https://www.vrbo.com/1416919

Pool, dock for sunsets, then the beach is on the lake outlet and the gulf. The young girls will play in the shallow warm lake water at the end of San Roy Road. Look at it on Google maps. Your house is a block from the beach access, so you don’t have to all go back and forth together. Umbrella, facing west, can stay for the day.

House is nice but not too nice, so you don’t have to GAF about kids messing it up. Pool is nice enough…have your 11 yr old to bring a friend and get them a couple of crab traps for the pier.

There’s a good seafood shop on the main road right there, coffee house, restaurant…

Sandestin Resort in Miramar Beach, make sure your rental comes with a golf cart.
