Zach Lowe was saying that with the new CBA, if a team doesn't use their MLE to sign a player in FA they can then use that MLE as a trade exception to acquire a player via trade. I think thats a pretty cool twist since we haven't used much of our MLE the past couple years

Also apparently there is going to be an exception for 2nd Round Picks to give teams better ability to re-sign them

Most of what came out seems like it should help the Pels. Less punitive tax rules and brackets for low end tax payers as well as that exception you mentioned for 2nd round players. Basically the contract we gave Naji/Herb/Jose used part of the MLE. They said there was going to be a new exception specifically for 2nd round players.

They did mention 2nd round specifically, so I'm not sure if Naji/Jose would have qualified being undrafted, but that's something they could use on EJ Liddell and Karlo Matkovic.

Only thing I wish they would’ve done is go down to 72 games.

Get rid of back-to-backs which cause a lot of lame scheduled losses.

It’s almost like Griff got them to make half of these rules lol. 65 game All NBA rule makes it less likely we pay Zion more the full possible deal which gives us more cap space to sign TM and Herb

Probably to incentivize teams to actually use those picks on capable players instead of selling the picks off or using them on euros that will never come over.

We would only pay zion the full deal if he made it THIS year, and he definitely wont do that so thats good for us.

Also read that they are counting some form of revenue(i cant remember what) as basketball related income which means the cap should raise by an extra $3m. Its looking more and more likely that we can retain most of out guys

That's a bummer. I like getting new players. I think it's pretty normal to turn over 25-50% of the roster each year. That'd be two seasons in a row only swapping out 1 or 2 guys. I was hoping for more like 3-5..

You don't have to keep them. Unless Jonas has a really good playoff run I'd expect multiple players to move in a JV trade.
