You watch enough NBA over the years and you notice trends, get gut feelings. Call intuition. I’ve been saying Memphis was close to this but now it feels like the Pels could be on the verge of disaster.

While it’s true, Pels were expected to only win 44 games this year, there is likely a crestfallen organization in front of us right now.

The Zion-Griff drama is at the center of all this and will be discussed all off season. So I’ll skip it for now.
CJ, our locker room leader-whom I’ve praised
for playing through injuries is on the back half of his career, and looks no closer to a championship than he was in Portland. Offseason surgery is coming, but there could be some regression in his game. With the extension kicking in, he could quietly ask out.

Jonas-has given his all here but until he shoots often from outside like Brook Lopez, he is approaching dinosaur status. He’s not long for this team either.

Nance another pro’s pro finishes another year looking like he’s lost his lift. Another surgery won’t surprise me.

Jose-little guys can’t suffer many injuries. His size will always make him a target to be replaced.
Dyson ended the year the exact opposite of last years rookies-glued to the bench.
Kira and Jax might as well be packing.

Brandon - some freak injuries for sure limited his season, but the midrange is crowded. He’s not an elite athlete & his defense must improve. Is there any trust left between Zion and Brandon?

Does Grant Hill ask Brandon to come play for Team USA?

Herb and Trey both must be paid, but for a 42 win team, what’s the amount Gayle will spend?

Does Willie have more or less power now? Can he pick some assistants?

Fred Vinson has been here through 3 staffs now. Chip England left the Spurs, it’s not inconceivable.

Trajan Langdon never speaks to the media. The Pels are considered to be loaded with talent. Does someone give him the keys?

Back to the center of the drama, Zions camp and Griff. The back and forth media statements…there’s going to be finger pointing, agents calling…

There was a team with such good chemistry last year and this year seems like all the good will has been used up and now players, coaches and staff have to start looking out for the next move.

It might not be over yet for this Pels era, but the pressure has increased, and the house money has run out. What’s next? I suspect some turnover in almost every department of this franchise. Running it back could make things really ugly.

Feeling the same way. I decided to go get some Taco Bell and then shite my brains out instead of starting a similar thread though. Watching this season unfold the way it did has me feeling dead inside.

Did you bump into Zion while at Taco Bell?

You may expect turnover and change but I dont expect much. The players and coaches will blame this season due to injuries but I agree there is a lot more going on. I think we add some coaches and likely trade Jonas. Everyone else stays. The one thing that will be interesting if Zion quietly asks out, I think him and the organization (Griff) are at odds. As dynamic as he this kind of stuff takes a toll on a team so I wouldn’t be surprised if we really secretly shopped him to get a sense of value.

The first and most important move this off season regards what to do about Zion: fish or cut bait?

Is he a generational player or a generational bust? How do you build a team around a so-called franchise player that has only played an average of 28 games per season over the last 4 years? A player who, in a botched PR stunt, just said that he would only play when he feels like himself? He needs to grow up and man up and start conducting himself like a professional. But will he do that? He is owed $200 million, but can he keep up his end of the bargain?

The FO now has 4 years of performance data to consider. Keep him or trade him (if that's even possible)? Tough decision, but it needs to be dealt with immediately.

Good post. Brought up some harsh realities unrelated to the zion circus.

There is real concern here and to start out as 1st in west to get to this low of lows is staggering.

It feels like we are the only fans that go through these kinds of roller coasters

Stop reading right there. Willie has to go plain and simple. Should be fired today.

I'm fairly certain the entire reason for his extension is to have that salary+picks to make the next move. I don't think it comes this offseason, but likely next offseason.

He needs to be traded. Less so for his limitations IMO, and more so because we don't know how to use them. We've failed him largely this season, with last night's 3rd quarter being a microcosm of how we've botched what we have in such a good player like Val.

We had a winning record while our best 2 players missed more time than every other top 10 West team's top 2 players.

Willie isn't going anywhere.

Why do people want to fire Willie? He does some dumb shite sometimes but so do like 25 of the 30 coaches in the league. The results have been fine considering what he’s had to deal with as far as roster construction and player availability. He’s a young coach and could potentially improve

This 3rd year will be make or break for him, and we’ll see how he responds.

Every single team, even the ones with 55+ wins, I guarantee you there is a segment of their fanbase just like ours, that dissect and hate 75% of the moves their coaches make.

It's fandom, it is what it is.

FWIW, I'm not saying you should never question a single move. Just pointing out the guys who question everything, or don't do any Xs and Os, just see we lose and automatically go to "outcoached" but they probably can't really give examples.

Sometimes? He does dumb shite nearly every game. He is a terrible in-game coach.

How much of Willie’s gameplan is under Griffins calls?
