In Jan 2020, Walmart approached public school administrators in Bentonville, Arkansas, about hosting diversity training sessions for the district. "We want people to feel welcomed, comfortable, and safe living here,” Candice Jones, Walmart’s head of DEI, emailed district leaders.
quote:
To that end, the company was offering to arrange teacher training sessions with a North Carolina-based consultancy known as the Racial Equity Institute, a group "devoted to creating racially equitable organizations and systems."
quote:
Bentonville—the site of Walmart’s corporate headquarters—wasn’t alone. In nearby Fayetteville, the district’s public schools embarked on a five-year "equity plan" funded and designed by Walmart-funded groups, including a DEI "research institute" at the University of Arkansas.
quote:
The district also implemented a "restorative justice" program—designed to combat the "disproportionate" discipline of black students—that discouraged teachers from breaking up fights and instructed them to sit on the floor with students to "dispel any sense of hierarchy."
quote:
We reviewed thousands of pages of documents obtained through public records requests submitted by families in Bentonville and Fayetteville. They show how the world’s largest retailer is laundering its ideology as a kind of noblesse oblige—and transforming a Trump +28 state.
quote:
These initiatives might seem out of place in Northwest Arkansas, which voted overwhelmingly for former president Donald Trump. But Walmart, long a bogeyman for liberals concerned about the power of big business, has become just as progressive as the rest of corporate America, earning a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index in 2022.
The company is owned and controlled by the descendants of Sam Walton, who opened the first Walmart store in 1962. Once staunch Republicans with close ties to the national GOP, the Waltons have shifted left with each passing generation—and with the 2016 election, they began giving nearly as much to Democratic campaigns as to Republican ones.
quote:
That rapprochement has accompanied a shift in philanthropic priorities. Since 2018, the Waltons, who make grants directly through the Walton Family Foundation and indirectly through the Walmart Foundation, have spent millions on progressive initiatives across Arkansas—including drag shows for children and pro-bono DEI consulting.

Guess I’ll never keep going.

Seems to be a historical trend.
Ask Andrew Carnegie what he thinks of the Carnegie Foundation and it’s interests.

Bentonville is a community that not even Walmart can drag to the left. Fayetteville has already been told their training violates state law per Governor Sanders. Walmart just following corporate America.

This is why the bud light thing is dumb. They have every market covered with this stuff. Instead of going against the company to try and “fix it”, it won’t work and the only way is to eradicate the message from those in “power”. They, in power, are laughing over all this bud light bickering.

Why are rich people idiots?

Regardless of you go, they’ll be fine. Unfortunately they’re the only option these days for a lot of ppl.

Sadly, multi-generational wealth turns people into leftist loons who advocate for policies they can afford to live beyond.
I’m nearing a point where I believe 3rd generation and beyond should not receive inheritance beyond a business, farm, or other operation they actually run and manage. The massive monies earned through capitalism turns into a war chest for socialism.

Theres also the point a business gets too big that allows others to dictate the company. Any business with a board or turnover will always diminish in the end from the original.

I don't remember who said it or the exact quote, so I'll paraphrase. But some middle eastern business tycoon said something along the lines of
"I rode a camel to school. My son drove a Mercedes. My grandson drives a Mercedes. But my great-grandson will ride a camel."

Yes, that’s a great quote and it’s true to a large extent, save families with billions of dollars and a continuing publicly traded company as the predominant portion of their wealth. Anyone inheriting billions should volunteer to work in a plant, refinery, oil field, farm, or other operation where real things are made, that make actual life possible, and actual value is created. Financialization and tech wealth often obscure wealth creation and reality to an abstract concept.

What a life

It is because they did nothing to get it and they need to "leave a mark" and the laziest way to do that is by virtue signaling.

This is all that comes to mind for me.
1 Timothy 6:10 KJV
For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Any real shot shell actually be able to put an end to this garbage in AR?

Wal-mart had an ESG rating of 100 on that corporate ESG link that was posted on here recently.

Ever wonder why every company on Wall Street is on board with this garbage? Check into the big financial firms like Blackrock. They are the bank rolls that are calling the shots behind the scenes.

Good. Maybe they'll have to shut down some more of their stores that are "unprofitable". They asked for it. Now they have it.
