is it more likely that Miles really was winning with Saban's players, or that this is just a rebuilding year?

I'm going with the first one.

Losing RP set the program back 1-2 years...you can't discount that.

i think having inadequate supporting coaches is the # issue, not the talent level of the players (which is not being maximized).

You are right, and I don't. But losing RP shouldn't have set the defense back like it has either.

The 2 headed DC of Malveto did that. Miles first big mistake hear as coach IMO

Those players were Miles players not Sabanas. FOr a good many of them just because Saban wnet to their parents living rooms and got them and spent a som ehours with them their Freshmen year does not mean they were not Miles players

Hell no I didn't think we were gonna win, of course I was hopefull like any one else is but I knew the fall would be inevitable. He is a FLUKE, Look at what Saban did ALABAMA in two years. Maybe they will fire Miles and Saban will come back and bring some dignity and pride to the tigers again.

Anti-RP media blitz is partly to blame.

+1

My big problem hasn't been the offense this year. Even with the loss of RP, excluding yesterday, they had been putting up really good numbers. My problem is the defense. No excuse to have this many problems with so many talented players on the defensive side of the ball. The defensive coaching is abysmal.

miles just royally fricked up with his DC decision in the off season .. anyone who doesn't think that is now obvious is a moron ... both mallory and peveto's positions have sucked royal arse too .. the secondary play has been atrocious .. our safeties can't cover shite and our CBs outside of a bright spot here and there by patrick peterson just aren't making plays ... the dropped interception at midfield with a 21-13 game was HUGE ! the linebackers outside of a play here and there from riley and shepard have underperformed too .. also, the defensive line that ESPN was hyping as being as good as some NFL fronts with the 8 man rotation after the auburn game has flat disappeared ... just poor poor coaching on defense running good talent into the ground right now is miles' major issue to fix .. miles doesn't fix this in the offseason and we throw out a 7-5 clunker next year and he's over his head ..

I will give him the benefit of the doubt to see what he does concerning the DC situation in the offseason. If he retains them, then I will begin to doubt whether Miles is the guy to be the coach at LSU. If he rectifies the DC situation with a proven guy, then I think the QB situation will improve and the fact that Miles has proven to be a good recruiter will keep me in his corner.

I have hope, but Im a realist. Especially in his two DC decision. I am just partial to Saban.

!

The lack of ball skills in the secondary has been glaring and has cost us potential points off turnovers in critical situations all year.
