Golf trip to Ireland

Planning a golf trip to Ireland next year. Anyone been? Any pointers? Do's and Dont's? Must play courses?
Probably only able to spend one week, so want to get the biggest bang for buck.

Invest in really good rain gear, bring multiple pairs of golf shoes that are water proof and broken in, golf balls there are insanely expensive I’ve heard, so bring an ample supply as the fescue eats them

I have all of that from my Scotland trip.
Just scratching the surface of this. Airfare is $1300-1600 pp. Biggest issue is whether to self-drive or hire a ride as needed.
The courses that I know of:
Lahinch Old Course
Ballybunion
Tralee
Old Head
K Club
Royal Portrush
Royal County Down
These seem like the "biggies" of the lot. Would you do it through a service (Carr Golf, Perry Golf, etc.) or plan your trip/courses A la carte?

I'm going in a month. Playing Adare Manor (host of 2026 ryder cup), Old Head, Ballybunion and Waterville.

Man, I so love it over there! Been twice, Ballybunion, Carne twice, and Enniscrone. All the ones you listed are on everyone's lists. Ballybunion is a must. Would love to pick up the N. Ireland courses-Royal Portrush, County Down. Old Head looks "other worldly".
Carne is a little-known gem way out on the NW Coast. It's a trip out there, but a nice trip. Can play Sligo and Enniscrone on the way out-or back. Dunes in Ireland make Scottish dunes look like dots.
Have rented car each time. White knuckles but can't beat the convenience and it's a blast when you survive.
Since you have time, I recommend "A Course Called Ireland" by Tom Coyne. For Carne, I recommend "Ancestral Links" by John Garrity. Really good reads.
If you go to Belmullet to play Carne, I recommend Drom Caoin for a B&B. The lady there has a relationship with the course. When we went several years ago, the weather was so bad the course was closed for my tee time-and that's saying something for Ireland. She called the pro shop, told them I had to leave the next day. They let me go out on a Saturday at sunrise an hour before play started and my wife and I had the course to ourselves for almost the whole front nine.
