If you add up Sharpton's and Biden's IQ points, you wouldn't reach the current wet bulb temperature in south Texas.

They're both wrong. We're a banking cartel ever since the Federal Reserve Act of 1913.

someone should tell BOTH of those yahoos that the United States is both a “democracy“ and “republic.“ A republic is one of several FORMS of democracy.

Sharpton is an idiot, but he did have one valid point.

The average voter in that district (any district, actually) is too uneducated to understand the distinction.

That congressman saying “not a democracy“ will indeed play well with a lot of idiotic voters.

it is one thing to raise this morontic, faux-pedantic, point online. There’s quite another for an elected official to do the same thing on camera.

By definition, a republic is a representative form of government that is ruled according to a charter, or constitution, and a democracy is a government that is ruled according to the will of the majority.

Yeah we're literally both

Democracy means any system that relies on voting to designate political power.

You're describing 2 forms of democracy: direct democracy v. a democratic republic.

entertaining that you had to go all the way down to the 10th result on a Google search to find one source that drew your distinction.

It’s actually number 2 in the search queue.
However the US is a democratic republic. Not sure why people don’t see this.

yes, it is, which is a form of representative democracy, which is a form of democracy.

probably the best description of the US government is that it is “a representative democracy in the form of a federal, constitutional republic.“

not sure why people don’t see this.

A republic is a form of democracy but a democracy can never be a republic.

And reading both yours and sfp comments, you actually agree. You just are trying to be assholes like usual.
