Worked out of there on tugs in the early 2000's. Wasn't much to do back then but party and that was what we are looking for. I have heard the cartels are really in control there now.

Friend of ours was from a well to do family back in the 80's
and the dad had several very successful companies in Tampico. He was kidnapped and held for ransom. The family didn't pay the demands. His head was sent to the family 2 weeks later. I'm sure it is better now.

I used to have an H2A farm worker that came from Tampico. The language barrier was difficult, but he would talk about the cartel. He was a cab driver when he was home and it was obvious he had seen some shite.
