This has been some great golf.
Last match just finished on 18 in the dark. Guy got up and down from 120 to force extra holes in am.
These matches really are great drama.

Love watching this every year. Smylie has had some funny commentary too.

Alabama’s Nick Dunlap is turning into an absolutely elite of the elite amateur golfers. It’s been fun to watch.

Also, I have to say it. Smylie is terrible at this job. He’s been terrible every step of the way with it. And it’s embarrassing that he only has it because everyone feels bad for him.

This will fall on deaf ears but I am NOT trying to flame LSU fans. Smylie just sucks at this.

JM Butler from Auburn, tomorrow Kouvin vs Dunlap is AU vs Bama. They have played some good golf, but a bunch has to do with Cherry Hills being an old course that plays short at altitude so it’s a Birdie Barrage to win a match.

He is good on the course, but in the booth it feels stiff and rehearsed. It is on the job training at this point he will figure it out. Being from Mt Brook he doesn’t come across as a Douche, and most folks that know him say he is a good dude.

It’s playing so short. They’re SENDING drives with not much care in the world.

But short game is coming into play a ton because of that and they’re showcasing some unbelievable talent there. The putts that were falling yesterday in huge moments were unreal.

What’s the hole, I think maybe 17? That called for a low hook iron that so many were having trouble with yesterday?

So many balls in the left water there.

That’s probably the best proof that this tournament would probably be a better test on a more nuanced driving course.

They have the game to scramble around greens. Would be nice to see more difficult tee shots.

I nearly mentioned that he is definitely better with on course duty.

He’s better at on course calls on the tour than he is in the booth here. It’s probably not fair of me to harp on it so hard seeing as he’s new at this.

And full disclosure, I’m a huge fan and wish him the best. But, I think he’s pretty bad at both. And I have no doubt that he’s only being tried out because he’s close with Spieth and JT and Rickie.

He’s going to be given every chance he can to make this work and imo it’s forced and he’s not good at it.

In the old days, when I was at AU a student, the courses played by the students were Indian Pines and a goat ranch named Pin Oaks.

When I was at Alabama, the student course was out by the VA hospital- Harry Pritchett.

Now both schools have so much better places for the students to play.

Different world.

ReauxlTide I agree. His podcast is really good but he just doesn’t have it to be a broadcaster.

Dunlap has been elite since high school. His match tomorrow should be awesome. Two of the best.

Cherry Hills is incredible. Bel-Air was incredible last week for the women’s am as well!

He literally just started this. Give him some time. He will be good. He’s got a good personality.

I would cut him some slack because he is still young and inexperienced being in front of the camera.

It's not easy when that red dot comes on.

I had always felt comfortable with public speaking until my company made us give presentations in front of a TV camera .

Totally different for sure.

Nick plays here at Canebrake. Have played many rounds with him. Kid is as solid as it gets.
