Need some cruise advice, if you have it!

20th anniversary coming up, and we have nailed down a few options we generally like, and one of them is a cruise. We aren't looking for Europe or anything, we don't want to spend "days" traveling. (We did that on our 15th)

Disclaimer: I dislike most things about a cruise, my wife loves most things about them. Her family would go on a cruise every year, and still does. My family would prefer to just go straight to a beach.

I am looking at some Royal Caribbean options with several days at sea, don't really care about the ports... not sure I want to disembark with thousands of people, other than the RC island.

The question: If the ONLY cruises I have been on have been Disney with kids, is RC going to be a huge shock to the system of a non-cruise fan? Will it be better?

Why did you decide on RC?

Go on something like Celebrity to a non Caribbean destination that will filter out the kids and riff raff

Look into sailings to the southern caribbean that leave from San Juan.

They are generally on smaller ships and offer a different clientele and ports than what you may get to the eastern or western carribbean out of texas, NOLA or Florida

Huge shock, no. There is alot Disney does better and there is alot RC does better.

Food is better on Disney
Entertainment is better on RC
Pool deck is better on RC
Staff is better on Disney

Thanks for the tips. We are 99% locked into Canaveral, as we can work in kid drop-off easily.

Lauderdale 2nd choice.

I'd look at Celebrity cruises and try to book a room with access to the private suite area.

And if you splurge for Concierge on Disney, you'll never want to cruise any other way.

Look at one of the Celebrity edge-class ships. Gorgeous, classy ships with hardly any kids. We did Celebrity Edge a few years ago and going on the Ascent in the spring. And now, some of the Celebrity ships are stopping at Perfect Day at CocoCay if that’s important.
