It went something like " In a toolery shack by the railroad tracks-livin with nothin but the clothes on our backs...
I've been searching, but can't find anything that matches, I always thought it was a Merle Haggard song, but it's not.

I saw him on Austin City Limits once use a verse from Tulare Dust as a lead-in to Mama Tried. Pretty damn good.
