But there exists a scenario in which the Saints could control their own destiny with a win in Week 17 to finish 10-6.
They would need:
1) ATL to lose to TB in Week 15
2) DAL to lose to both NYG and BAL over the next 2 weeks
AND EITHER
3) Both WAS and PHI lose in Week 15
OR
WAS loses Week 15 and beats PHI Week 16
OR
PHI loses Week 15 and beats WAS Week 16

just for an ounce of reality though
if we lose next week it's all over thanks to the CAR win over TB
eta: but we've got revenge on our minds for those godless killing machines

on the bright side...
if the favored team (by winning percentage) wins every game for the rest of the year...
the only upset we need is us over CAR in week 17.. and they'll already be clinched by then

You know, you actually did a very good job with that Lee fan club thing.

The only one that worries me. NYG are they really in a funk or will they turn it around? Baltimore is good on defense, but they are no Pittsburgh, can they actually beat the Cowboys?

If ATL loses to MIN instead of TB, and they also finish 10-6, in what way would we win the tie-breaker with them. We would both be 3-3 in the division and 7-5 in the conference. What is the next tie-breaker step? Sure would be nice if ATL lost to TB, then we win the head to head with them because we would have the better division record.

I think we'd tie on common games, it would come down to strength of victory. I think our only victory difference would be San Fran for us and St Louis for them, so we should take it.

You're right, it would come down to strength of victory.
And that will depend on what the rest of the league does the next 3 weeks.
Good catch.

So the original poster's claim is not necessarily true? It should read that Atlanta must lose to Tampa Bay, right?
