Headed to London this week, and the 10 day forecast has changed every single day. Now the first 2 days are 65% chance of rain. Is rain there an all day thing, or is it more of intermittent showers?

My experience has always been showers, and never heavy or long. Qualifier-never been in January. Experience in March, August, September and October.

Intermentent light rain. Streets and sidewalks are always wet but you can get out as long as you have a rain jacket and a proper brolly. Though you may not see the sun your entire time there.

Although it is a pain if you only have carryons try to pack a second pair of shoes so one pair can be drying

Went this time last year and it was always light and kinda intermittent.

Had to Google what a brolly was

Awesome. The weather forecast has dramatically changed since I posted earlier.

I was there this week last year and it would rain everyday in the late morning/early afternoon and never more than something that would be uncomfortable to walk.
I had a waterproof car coat, some ropers, and an umbrella I picked up from Boots.
If it gets too bad just pop into a pub and wait it out.
Got some great pics of buckingham with no crowds because it was drizzling.

weather forecast changes there often. Not sure why they can't forecast there more accurately but it is what it is.

Not meant to hijack but have you ever watched a game show made in England? They are decades away from a decent weather forecast

The Island is in a spot where weather systems can come from all directions. But more than this, the water temps in the Atlantic fluctuate randomly so that makes predicting weather more than a few days out very difficult.

It has been my experience that you are much better off with a good lightweight hooded rain jacket than an umbrella in London. Because of the crowds.
I have an unlined Outdoor Research jacket that stows in its own pocket and has a clip to hang off a belt loop. I carried it every day in London earlier this year and used it at least once a day.
