the truth about Rivals

now very obviously this will be Germans because the story is over a year old, but some people still wonder if Rivals might possibly be "fixed". So you need to know that the CEO was arrested for securities fraud while running his previous company. he was accused of "a massive ongoing market manipulation". that company was shut down so he started rivals. before yahoo bought it, Fox and AOL both attempted to buy rivals, but when they discovered what the guy did in the past (he didnt disclose it), they bailed.
it gets better: the CEOs name is Shannon Terry. he's a huge college football fan. specifically, a bama fan. his home board is BOL. user name: Lucky. hes on there all the time.
CEO of Rivals involved in securities fraud

I think RR was moved to #1 cause they know LSU and Gumps are crazy bout him.

I thought he moved to #1 because he is a Bama lock, if he was committed to LSU, he'd drop to a 3* right?

This is exactly what happened to the TE Tyler Edwards last year

Didn't you say he sold Rivals? If so, what does this have to do with Rivals this year?

You're right. The latest update shows a clear Bama bias.
chris bonds #107 to #111
rod woodson #116 to #119
kendall kelly #117 to #120
michael bowman #129 to #132
chad bumphis #148 to #151
montez robinson #187 to #191
william ming #211 to #212
darrington sentimore #214 to #215
kevin norwood #246 to out.
TR stayed the same. DJ Fluker went down. AJ McCarron is the only one to go up.
Yep, definitely a Bias there. Nevermind that LSU had Jackson bumped to a 5. Not saying he doesn't deserve it at all.
Btw, over the past 2 seasons, Bama has had more commits move DOWN than up. Don't let facts get in the way of a good flame, though.

MastrShak:
You should be careful in your comments. Not sure what you're goal is with this. I have no dog in your fight, except to see a fair fight. Do you work for the Justice Department? Not good to make accusations or infer guilt when no guilt was claimed or made by this individual. Just because a person pays a fine(which was actually a forfeiture in this case) does not mean they acknowledge guilt.
Was an arrest actually made of Terry? Obviously Terry was not the big fish in this organization, but because of his association as an employee, he may have been collateral damage in the government's actions. The collateral part is the real tragedy because it will follow him forever even though he was not a target or guilty of anything. Don't ever confuse justice with the truth when it comes to the US Justice Department.
This article you refer to have no facts from any of the parties involved in the negotiations, other than supposition from an anonymous source. I would not consider this website the Washington Post. The title of this article is more a want than fact. See title below:

CEO Of Rivals Involved In Securities Fraud; May Kill Yahoo Acquisition, by Michael Arrington on April 12, 2007
The most factual truth from this article came from the last comment below the article, it contains more facts to the case than supposition. Below is the whole comment from below that article.
You state: “No word on whether Terry’s history has been disclosed to Yahoo as part of the current negotiations, and how it might affect the deal. My guess is that it could have an impact.”
I believe instead of saying “it could” have an impact, you mean to say “I hope”.
What is your problem? Did you crash some techie convention where Shannon Terry brushed you off? Grow up.
His lawyer is correct and you are wrong. Shannon was not a principal in SGA Goldstar. He was barely a few years out of college when he was hired as an employee of Mr. Melcher’s SGA Goldstar newsletter. He went to work there thinking it was a legitimate investment newsletter.
He is the one who convinced Mr. Melcher to take it online and took charge of the transition. For that, Melcher granted him a bonus of stocks, stocks which turned out to be part of the pump and dump. That’s the $828,000. It was not a fine. It was a forfeiture. Shannon sold his shares when the stock rose, like many investors do to take a profit.
It was only after he sold his shares that Shannon found out the run up was due to market manipulation. Shannon did not know this was a pump and dump operation. He was not involved in soliciting companies to tout, nor was he involved in fabricating information about the stocks.
When the SEC investigation discovered what was going on, Shannon did indeed cooperate. Not to get himself leniency (he wasn’t guilty of anything), but to cooperate because it was the right thing to do. He felt he had been duped as well. The resolution of the SEC investigation confirms this.
Mr. Kraft and Mr. Huttoe initiated the pump and dump. It was their operation. Mr. Melcher became involved later in the process. Mr. Terry was not privy to any of the conversations or manipulations involving the pump and dump. That is the real reason Kraft, Huttoe, and Melcher served prison terms and Mr. Terry did not.
The way you are casting this story is in a completely false light. It IS defamatory, and shows you have only the most shallow and confused idea of what happened.
