Savannah/Charleston combo trip

Considering doing this in the fall but was thinking of trying to do two days in each city. Would fly into Savannah, rent a car and drive to Charleston, and fly out of Charlestion. Is this enough time to get an appreciation of each city or no? Also, I will take any and all recommendations for things to do/see and food in each city. TIA

Personally, I recommend that you spend four days in one of the cities or the other and then plan a subsequent trip for the other. I've visited both cities and I don't believe two days would do justice to either.

Charleston has more to do than Savannah - if you're set on splitting I would make Savannah one day and Charleston three.
Drive takes about 2 hours without traffic one way.

I have combined both cities a number of times and enjoy both, but I would spend more time in Charleston because there is a lot more to do and see there.
In Savannah we usually stay at one of the hotels along the river and eat at the Old Pink House.
In Charleston we like the Vendue Hotel. There are many excellent restaurants there including
FIG
SNOB
Peninsula Grill
Anson

Did this with family last week. As others have said, I’d recommend more time in Charleston as well. I think that gives you plenty of time in both.
We stayed in Charleston and just drove to Savannah for a quick day trip. We hit Bonaventure Cemetery, Forsythe Park, Mercer Wms house and a small piece of downtown, including ice cream at Leopold’s while in Savannah.
I wanted to get back to Charleston for dinner because they had so many great options.
While in Charleston, we only used the car for going to Savannah and walked over 30k steps a day. You see a lot in a short period in Charleston but be prepared to walk.

Savannah's downtown is prettier with all the trees.

Do Charleston and then Kiawah in one trip.

I'll agree with that - you can also walk around the historic district with a drink which is nice. But that could be miserable in the summer and mosquitoes are abundant.
I just think Charleston has much more to do in the walkable area and if you prefer the harbor views they win on that end. You can walk around the Savannah district in half a day.

Baw, what you got against our state tree, which line just about every street?
OP, two days in Charleston isn't enough, especially if you want to check out one or more of the beach towns.

Maybe a stop in Beaufort on the drive. A nice town with some beautiful homes along the river. Scene location for that movie The Big Chill.
