Kevin Steele To Clemson? Looks like a possibility

Interest has been expressed by both parties, multiple sources told the Press-Register, and Clemson reportedly can offer a salary competitive with or exceeding the $360,000 that Steele made with the Crimson Tide this season. Former Tennessee defensive coordinator John Chavis, who is close friends with Steele, was considered the front-runner for the vacant job on new Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney's staff before reports surfaced today that Chavis was instead bound for LSU. Clemson was also reportedly interested in former Auburn defensive coordinator Paul Rhoads before he became head coach at Iowa State. Steele, who coaches the Crimson Tide's inside linebackers, was hired as defensive coordinator before the 2007 season. He received a $10,000 raise and new title for the 2008 season as Kirby Smart inherited the coordinator tag. Steele is currently in New Orleans as Alabama prepares for Friday's Sugar Bowl against Utah. He is a native of Dillon, S.C., and has ties to the region, having coached at the NFL's Carolina Panthers during the 1990s. Swinney would like to have a new coordinator in place in time for the Jan. 9 recruiting weekend. The new hire would replace Vic Koenning, who was not retained when Swinney was promoted from interim coach this year

big surprise. andre is talking with an agent to leave early, major took a demotion to go to texas, steele is taking a step down to go to clemson.

+1 The catch is that if he does accept the job, who will Satan look to this late in the game. The major coaches are hired.

Saban will hire Tenuta. They seem like they would be a good fit. Two insane coachs on the sidelin together.

He'll hire someone who can recruit. Smart and Steele are only DC's in name and pay.

Clemson DC would not be a step down for Steele. He would get full control instead of sharing duties with Saban and Kirby Smart.

I agree with this...although historically this has not affected Saban and his teams negatively at all.

Next year Bama is going to be like we were when Marcus Randall and JR were splitting time, but they'll probably still do no worse than the Peach or Cotton Bowl. After that...Saban and Bama are gonna be tough for as long as he's there.

Saban doesn't need nor probably want an experienced DC. There will be loads of young and and coming coaches lined up for a chance to work under him. They just have to take his crap for a few years and then they are golden(i.e. Muschamp).

I would think that Orgeron would be a great DC for Bama. Recruits like crazy, and it doesn't matter whether he can actually run a D, because Saban does that anyway.

Probably just trying to get us to give him a raise. After a 12-0 regular season, it is a good time to ask for money or threaten to leave.
