Halloween 2018 re-watch

I re-watched Halloween 2018 again yesterday and found that it was a solid addition and take on the original Halloween. How did Halloween Ends and Halloween Kills go so wrong. Michael Meyers in Halloween 2018 comes out as a true killer and then becomes this soft shell of a character in Halloween Ends.
Just that time of the year to start re-watching favorite horror movies.

I finally got around to watching Ends, and it was freaking weird. Michael Myers is barely in it. That was a bold strategy

Probably took a similar path that alot of them take. The first one exceeds expectations, and the subsequent releases are nothing more than a cash grab based on the popularity of the first one. Matrix, Saw, Fast and Furious.

The writing. I never watched Halloween Ends but Halloween Kills was absolutely atrocious writing. I thought it was also a stupid idea to make Haddonfield's AARP members the primary targets of Michael's wrath. Other than Allyson's ex-boyfriend, I don't think there was a single victim under the age of 50.
Finally, the "Evil dies tonight!" chant got old really quick.

Every timeline of this franchise ends up a mess.
Unfortunately, I think Carpenter was correct when in that the overall story is pretty limited in directions it can reasonably go, and “Halloween” should have gone the anthology route like Seasons of the Witch attempted to do.
That said, it’s a comfy series that I enjoy watching each year. Lot of lame, cheesy stuff but still fun for the most part.

The same people made all three yet somehow couldn't keep a consistent arc.

There's only so many things you can do with an immortal slasher killer. That's why the Scream franchise works so well comparatively speaking. Each film features a different killer(s) with different themes and meta commentary on the horror genre and slasher sub-genre.

Which is weird because, if I remember correctly, they pitched all three movies at once as a trilogy. So it’s not like the first one had success and they were caught off-guard and had to rush the next ones.

Nah it's actually much stupider that every killer ends up with a hidden family member that's willing to go to great lengths to murder a bunch of people.

Really wish it would have gone in this route. So many spin off stories they could have done.

They had to be trolling the audience.

David Gordon Green is a piece of shite horror director. Kills and Ends were the biggest fricking turds of the franchise.

Ends is the worse of the franchise and it’s not even close. Even worse than Zombie’s two pieces of shite.

I always laughed at them pulling a Reddit top comment idea and putting his body into a meat grinder to ensure his end

True. You know what Halloween really needs? To go the Jason Lives route and just go full on camp. We are all there for killer to kill in interesting ways. The plot sometimes just gets in the way but the setting and the kills is paramount. Halloween just got too introspective, applying backstory and reason behind the massacres. Just make the massacres interesting and fun. That’s what folks want to see anyway. frick the reason. Less is more in that regard.

And that's probably why I've seen Jason Lives 100x. It's the most rewatchable of all the Friday the 13ths.

Correct!
Worst:
1. Ends
2. Kills
3. Rob's shite.
4. The Paul Rudd mishap w/the man in black and stupid cult shite.

I would probably put Resurrection at 4; the Paul Rudd one was Citizen Kane compared to those others.

I hear you. Resurrection would be my 5th worst, but it's close for me.
