Nuss needs to add scrambling to his toolbox

He showed tonight on that one run that he’s adequately fast to be able to tuck it and run to pick up a first down for us once in a while. He honestly should have tucked it and ran several other times when the field in front of him was vacated, but he wouldn’t pull the trigger and instead tried to force a pass to a covered receiver.
He’s no Jayden Daniels obviously, but he’s fast enough to pick up a first down once in a while. That’s all we need from him as far as running is concerned.
If Nuss starts scrambling and teams know there’s a threat of the QB run, it will take our offense to another level. It’ll force defenses to account for one more thing, and many opportunities will open up for us across the field.
Time for the coaches to coach him up and make his arse start scrambling when the field is wide open in front of him.

Painfully obvious that he wants NOTHING to do with running the ball

The rant will crucify you for saying this even though ur 100% correct.

No doubt instead of trying to throw it to denham springs or Addis

Exactly
Or trying to force a pass to a double-covered receiver who’s not even close to being open

He needs to know that 4 is greater than 0 or a pick. It'll keep us out of 3rd and long

Yep

If he learns to scramble when appropriate, LSU averages 4 more ppg than if he doesn't learn. I'm sure BK will go over that with him this week.

While I love his passing and everything he does leave a shite ton of ground yardage out there

Very true, but I don’t think it’s because he’s scared. I think it’s actually one disadvantage of being a QB coach’s son. I think he was trained so much growing up to keep his head up and eyes downfield when he leaves the pocket, that he went too far the other way. That’s something that a lot of QBs have to learn the older they get. He learned it so early that that’s his default, and he misses huge swaths of grass right there for the taking. Like he’s too close to the forest to see the trees.
But Nuss had about 80 yards rushing he could have easily had, and that would have opened so much more of the offense. If the back 7 has to respect you enough to just wait half a second before they turn their hips to run with the receivers, that’s enough time for us to win 1 on 1s and get wide open. But hard, at Nuss’s age, to teach the opposite of what most QBs have to learn at this point of their development.

Didnt seem to help Jaxson Dart. Rushed 15 times. Still lost
Didnt seem to work for Howard at OSU. Ran 9 times. Still lost
Didnt go so well for OUs QB. Ran 20 times. TX mopped the floor with them
KY QB ran 8 times. Still lost to Vandy
Sellers at SC ran 16 times. Fumbled twice. Threw a pic when running wasnt an option
Milroe survived back-to-back losses due to an int from SC. And he ran 18 times
Didnt help Nico much. He ran for a whopping 1 yd, along with a fumble
Didnt seem to be a factor for Ewers today. Nuss has 2x the yards
Didnt seem to be a factor for Beck. Threw for 460 yds. Ran one time

Even in that final drive to tie he could have tucked and got a first rather than relying on 3rd and 4th downs to complete a pass that could be dropped.
Take all open yards on 2nd and 3rd down like that.

He is not slow by any means definitely needs to watch this weeks game film and take the easy 10 -15 yards running when the defense goes straight coverage in future games. No more forcing throws and throwing over sixty times a game.

So you like forced throws into coverage resulting in incomplete passes and interceptions? Got it.
I bet you hated Jayden Daniels. Lmao

that look on BKs face look like he bet the under on Nuss rushing yards

I wonder if his dad has anything to do with that

You got down voted because those schools don't have the receivers we did. Dart had one receiver and one that did alright. As one pointed poster pointed out that if they respect Nuss for one second more out WR would be like last year when we had JD5 to account for

Would also like to see them using Taylor or Green more underneath in those scenarios. Seemed like some of those plays every receiver was 20 + yards downfield. Maybe was intentional and they were trying to get nuss room to scramble

Some QBs don't see the daylight downfield, just the receivers.
Nuss is our guy, we need to pull for him, no matter what......and he is damn good quarterback!
and last night is the QB is thought we would have on a regular basis, he is a gunslinger.....and a WINNER.
