I lost respect for Keyboard players today

My 9yo is toying around on an Alesis and came up with a cool melody, I pick up my guitar and start playing around with it with him. At one point I look over and see he's playing 4 halfsteps above where I'm playing. I'm thinking "no way my guitar is THAT out of tune". I pull up a tuner on the internet. Sure enough, my guitar is in tune, and the keyboard is way out of tune. I was bewildered. I had my child go fetch the instruction manual. I find something called a "transpose" feature and turned it off, and all was right with the world.
I never knew this feature existed. I no longer trust keyboard players. I could just learn to play everything in C M then transpose to whatever key the band wanted with buttons.
That's cheating.

Not much different than a capo.

I don't use clothespins on my guitar, sir. Take that up with the capo people.

There have always been tools to make transposing easy though.
That's what the number system is all about and the numbers wheels.
Even before that, you could transpose with a 12 inch ruler.

sharps and flats on a piano different, you can't just go down a step or two, you have to relearn the whole song unless you are a true bonafide badass.

It's all the same notes.
Tune a string on your guitar to C and start there. Each note will coincide to the 12th fret then start all over again just like a piano.

Wait until you find out about one of the greatest songwriters of the 20th century…

As a guitar player you should also be able to learn a song with barre chords in a key and simply move up or down the number of frets needed for transposition. Don’t need to know the chord names in the new key, just the relation to each other.

Wait until you discover MIDI, DAWs, and piano rolls.

Brass instruments have crooks, guitars have capos, electronic instruments have transpose features.
I'd say "Get with the times, old man" but this shite has been around forever.
