Just wondering if there are any others out there that have an interest in PCP Air Rifles.
From .177 to .72. From small game to cape buffalo. Single shot, repeater, semiautomatic to fully automatic. From $200 to $7000+ . They come in every imaginable version.

I own several - Daystate Harrier X .22 and an FX Impact MkII .30

I have an Aspen .22. It’s ridiculously complicated and I’m always concerned about seals leaking and storing it correctly.
Bought it to dispatch varmints in a “legal” way in our neighborhood.
Father-in-law bought a traditional .22LR and affixed a silencer - it’s quieter, cheaper and more reliable.
Guess I have an Aspen to sell if you’re interested.

Thanks, but I’ll have to pass.

I just upgraded to the RTI Mora in .30 cal. The thing is a beast.

I had a break action.177 cal that wouldn’t penetrate a possum skull from like 6” away.
Skipped 22.
Got a .25 cal PCP with all the fixings (4500psi compressor, chronograph, adjustable stock, m-lok hand guard, scope) for neighborhood varmints and it has probably killed about 10 armadillos, 20 possums, 40 coons, and probably 100+ squirrels. Even several bigass nastyass rats. That 34 grain pellet will go through a big coon broadside.
I don’t like the idea of shooting a suppressed 22LR up into the air (at squirrels) with other homes in proximity.

FX wildcat.
It’s amazing how accurate it is to about 75 yards.
Donnie FL suppressor is super quiet.

That’s what got me….. how accurate they are. Putting a .30 cal 50 grain slug into a dime at 50 yards.

Are you suggesting a .25 pcp air gun is safer to shoot in the air than a suppressed 22lr with reduced velocity rounds?
There’s probably a very small difference in regards to neighbors feelings, but legally I can’t imagine a difference outside of a cop being ignorant.

That’s exactly what I’m saying.
.25 cal pellet, 34gr, 850fps, 0.05 BC
vs
.22 cal bullet, 40gr, 1070fps, 0.12 BC
Do the math - the subsonic 22LR starts out with double the muzzle energy, and it’s a shite ton more aerodynamic than the pellet.
The .25 cal pellet still will go through and through a broadside coon from 25 yards, go into an armadillo shell into its vitals, and murdelize squirrels. So its good enough without being overkill and its potentially going to go half the distance and fall much more gently than a 22LR subsonic if it doesn’t strike its target or a branch or anything in the tree.

Most people in my neighborhood are going to break out a real firearm to shoot an armadillo or a skunk. No one is scared of guns here but I bet they really appreciate me using pellets shooting into the trees.

Well a PCP pellet gun is not a firearm. A 22LR with suppressor is a firearm. If we lived in city limits, one would be legal to shoot and one would not be legal to shoot. Lucky for me I’m not inside any city limits.

They sell low velocity rounds for .22 suppressed use so they don’t crack the sound barrier.
If it makes you feel better, that’s fine. I’m just pointing out in reality it really doesn’t matter.
FWIW I have a friend that was arrested in college for shooting a BB gun in city limits. He was a dumbass shooting at a street sign, but his charge was something like ‘launching a missile’ in city limits. So like I said, depending on the officer shooting animals with a PCP really isn’t much different

Yes, in my reply I wrote about 22LR at 1070fps. That’s subsonic.

22LR “standard velocity” rounds which are subsonic in that they are “standard velocity” makes me feel better. They are going to go twice as far and fall up to about 5 times faster than the 25 cal pellet. So using the pellets in the neighborhood is objectively less hazardous.

I can shoot full powered rifle rounds in my backyard. No one is calling the cops.

The Hatsan Blitz fully automatic in .30 cal will put a smile on anyone’s face. Just have LOTS of ammo. It can go through a tin pretty fast. And amazingly accurate at that rate of fire.
Best of all……. You can buy on the internet and have shipped right to your front door without an ffl.

Yes, but you can buy 700-900 fps .22 rounds. I was thinking 1000 was subsonic, but you are right. But you can also buy slower rounds.
A .22lr suppressed with low velocity is no safer or no more dangerous than a PCP. End of story. They are both shooting equivalent lead at close enough speeds.
I like air guns too, I just don’t think this is a valid argument as there’s really no discernible difference.
I shoot air guns in my backyard too and not a .22. I think it’s less likely for someone to be mad about it. But in reality I don’t think it’s actually safer.

I have a Hatsan .177 I bought off of Amazon. Amzing fit and finish for a Turkish gun.
Neat little gun.

False.
If you for no good reason bought 800fps 22LR ammo that is just as quiet as 1070fps 22LR ammo both going through a suppressor, and you compared the 800fps 22LR to the 25 cal pellet with the same muzzle velocity, then at the muzzle they’d be about the same.
Where you are mistaken is the energy of the projectiles while they are falling. A free falling 22LR bullet has about 5 ft-lbs of energy which can penetrate human tissue. A falling 25 cal pellet has about 1 ft-lb of energy which is unlikely to break skin of a human.
They are objectively not the same. The 25 cal pellet is less hazardous than a 22LR. They are both hazardous, but the 22LR is more hazardous.

The type of propellant used. High pressure air and gun powder.
A pcp that has a working pressure of 130 bar (1900 psi) isn’t even close to the pressure generated by the gunpowder in a 22lr (24,000 psi). And the pcp plenum reservoir limits the volume of high pressure air.
The 22 lr will retain more energy at greater distances.

I like the fix impact. Almost bought the M4. Decide to go with the RTI Mora. Do you hunt game with yours?

Do you have the high capacity magazines for it?
I bet it is a blast letting that thing rip.
