Macys Thanksgiving Day parade

I’m a sucker for tradition so I still watch for some reason. .
CBS is not covering it after 70 years. NBCs coverage still sucks a-hole. Apparently NBC will have to pay out the arse to maintain official rights to broadcast and they may not do it. Macys is close to a 10 year low financially so who knows what’s going to happen to it.
Some of the broadway performances have been live and not lip sync so I appreciate that.
It’s raining its arse off so they are not showing the crowd. Cold and wet has to suck arse.

Fox showed the Houston parade it was better to me.

I was wondering WTF. CBS normally started a little later than NBC so you didn’t have to watch at 730am.

That sounds awful. No thanks.

Watching a parade that barely qualifies as a parade (compared to LA parades) doesn’t appeal to me. But we are at my in-laws and had it on and I finally turned it off when they had some gay black dude in a tiny Speedo. I don’t need my five year old seeing that shite. So I put on Charlie Brown Thanksgiving instead.

And how many people involved in the parade absolutely loathe straight Christian males? My guess is the majority.

I've never understood the draw that it has. Well, any parade, for that matter. Think I'd just as soon check out a sod farm live cam.

Not to get sappy on everyone but every Thanksgiving for years we would go to our deer camp, hunt that morning and then watch the parade at our crappy run down deer camp on a 13 inch black and white tv with rabbit ears. Eat lunch hunt the evening and go home to the rest of family to eat thanksgiving supper.
Watching the parade for just a few minutes every year keeps flashes of those fading memories alive. And it feels good.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

I'm also a sucker for this tradition and watch it every year. Mainly, I want to see the balloons, floats, and Santa!
A few years ago, while spending Thanksgiving in Oklahoma, I didn't have access to NBC or CBS. I then Googled alternative ways to possibly watch. Damn! I found out that multiple YouTube channels broadcast the parade without all the commentary, Broadway BS, lip syncing pop stsrs, and full-blown marching band sets. I can see all the balloons, floats, and Santa in 40-45 mins! And I've done that for 4 years now.

For the wife it's such a tradition that she doesn't feel like Christmas season has started until Santa closes down the Macy's parade. For me? Meh.
All that said, it seems the parade has waned a bit over the years. Maybe it's just my memory fading as I get older but it seems that the parade used to be longer, have more balloons and the musical/broadway acts were whatever was the current rage (Cats, Book of Mormon, etc) instead of just the newest play or some relatively new and unknown singer.

I'm convinced that people still watch this event just to revisit their parents' sadistic behavior on their own children.

I saw some of it and the songs were lip synced. Which ones were live?

30th anniversary of the Barney blowup at the Macy's parade. The horror!
