LA wallet & validate tags

I’m just downloading the LA wallet app and using for the first time. When I kill a deer do I need to validate the tags for each deer I kill? The validate tag terminology is what’s confusing. I’m not sure if I need to validate all my tags in the app so I can use them after I kill or just validate each one after a kill.

Each one after you kill. When you kill one, press validate tags, then it’ll ask if you want to do it through phone, text or online. I do online. It’ll show all your tags and you press the one you want to validate. “Validating” is tagging. Not making them official to use in the future.

Sweet. That’s what I needed to know. Thank you.

Another useful tip…..
If a child has a lifetime license, you can use the last 4 of their SSN and “buy” their tags once they are set up under the parent’s profile. The cost of the tags is $0, but you have to go through the checkout process on the LDWF website under LA Wallet.
When the child kills a deer, use their tags for validation in lieu of using the parent’s tag allotment.

So if you have it setup on LA wallet, then no need to printout and carry paper tags anymore?

Do you need cell service to validate or are the tags stored on your phones internal storage?

Trying to figure out how to do this.

When you log into LA Wallet and select the LDWF tab, there will be a prompt : “Is this you”
Click no, then it goes to adding profiles and such. It’s been a couple of years since I set it up, but did have to go through this earlier in the week to validate a tag for my youngest son. The main thing is to have the last 4 digits of their SSN handy when setting it up as well as validating.

I have no cell service where I hunt. This weekend after I killed one I got a little nervous as I had to drive out of the woods before I could connect and fill out my tag

Make sure you requested tags if you bought online, especially if it auto renewed. Since they went to the online everything that’s misleading as shite now. Only reason I even thought about it was my duck stamp didn’t show up. Went and checked and no tags added to the Sportsman’s Paradise license.
Some poor baw is going to get a green jeans tickets because of semantics.

You need service. I hunt a piece of public with no service and last year I had to tag one when I got to the parking lot and got service back. It’s just one of those things I plan on dealing with if the time comes that I get stopped before I reach cell service. Honestly though, I’ve only run across 1 or 2 game wardens in my life that were assholes just trying to write a ticket. I feel like 99% will be understanding of the situation.

When I buy my duck stamp and alligator license, I take a screenshot of the digital receipt just incase they don’t automatically load to my LA wallet

But all it takes is that one egomaniac a-hole to make your life miserable. Area 1 hunters can probably guess the LDWF warden.

I am sure they are out there but I doubt the vast majority of green jeans would cut a ticket if you showed them your phone with no service.
If you're that worried I am pretty sure you could still get your paper tags. At least then you can prove you have tags without having service but still, won't be able to validate until you have service.

My buddy must have got the 1%. GW told him he should have tagged with paper tag before moving deer. Got a ticket for possessing an untagged deer.
Told him you cannot move a deer until its tagged. Even told him he could have got to cell service, validate tag, then go back and move deer.
