Sudden major oil leak on 7.3

1999 f-250 7.3
Changed my oil, oil filter, and fuel filter today same as I always do. When I started the truck up, there was a huge amount of oil immediately dumping onto the driveway. It's coming out of the weephole and the back of the engine and some where on the passenger side too but couldn't tell where. I'm talking probably a quart or more in a matter of moments. I don't think I did anything wrong or different on the oil change, I've done it a thousand times.
Any ideas?

Maybe the old oil filter gasket stay on. Then you put new oil filter on. Two gaskets. I seen this a few times. Just check old oil filter to see if the gasket is on/off

Yep, was going to post did you confirm the old gasket came off cleanly?

It was leaking from up higher than that, and from the passenger side too

Look on top of the motor. If it is coming out of the weep hole it is being channeled down from the top side.

Yea probably a HPOP line if it is a large amount of oil.

Sounds like HPOP is probably it based on how much and how fast it was coming out. Sigh.

Could it possibly be fuel that looks like oil by the time it hits the ground?? Collecting grime on the way down??
Maybe your nose doesn’t work like some of my buds.
Cycle the key on (not cranking) allowing the electric fuel pump to cycle, then off, and repeat while leaking for a leak.
I’ve seen double gaskets or cross threaded fuel filter housings leak like hell into the valley.

There's oil AND diesel. Diesel coming out from around the bowl and oil coming from somewhere else that I can't determine

Fuel leak washing all the oil residue from engine valley accumulated due to turbo pedestal slow leak.

It's definitely leaking oil too. It's the fresh, clear, brand new oil I just put in it

quote:I don’t know then. The injector oil pressure regulator (IPR) is beneath the fuel bowl on the rear of the hpop, maybe it or the oring leaking. Or one of the high pressure oil lines. Maybe?

Man i don't know. I'm taking it to the diesel mechanic on Monday. Frustrating. Tempted to finally pull the trigger on a new truck.

A new loaded diesel can be yours for the low low price of an exotic supercar.

Whatever wrong with yours will cost far less than the down payment for a new one.

I'm very emotional and you guys are coming at me with logic

On my old 95 I had a fuel leak in the top valley, it was a high pressure line that was a bitch to change cuz it's only about 4" long and crammed between two fittings 2" apart. When it started dumping a quart of oil at startup when cold it was the rear main seal.

Buddy just had his 97 rear seal replaced.
It's a lot.of work and while they have everything pulled out and apart he went after several other items.
All said though his truck looks like a showroom and he's still rolling it. Worth the costs.
