This would be an interesting choice to bridge the saints from it current cap situation to the next competitive balance. Hire Carroll as GM and HC.
His age makes him a natural short time hire, he is good with young development players, he runs a fairly tight ship so it would not be a circus of misfits. Carroll would give the organization time and flexibility to build a strategy going forward kinda like Vermeil did for Rams and Eagles to pull them out of the stinks.

Saints should hire a GM from Ravens or Packers organizations. Both teams have a long history of winning.
