It Never Rains in Tiger Stadium

I have been reading the book by John Ed Bradley and there is a lot of talk how the 1979 game with USC at Tiger stadium was like the best game ever played there. Even though we lost 12-10 it seems tiger fans have taken that USC hatred along for three decades. how big do you think a game in tiger stadium would now be? I can only imagine what the game day campus expereince would be like. Hope it happens in the near future.

LSU won 'the return match' 23-3 in Los Angeles in 1984. I think the 'hatred' came from the 2003 Media push to pump Southern Cal and discredit LSU.

No doubt the guy had issues. he just couldn't face not life past LSU. He should have taken the gig when stovall offered it to him.

I read it last year. But,before I had read it,I knew LSU lost that game 17-12.

Loved the book. Some people on here didn't like it but they thought it would be an LSU rah-rah book. He is a southern goth style author and it reads like most of his works. It isn't meant to be a great moments in LSU book.

John Ed just bought a house here in Mandeville. Met he and his wife/girlfriend...I think she's a hairdresser, and I have no idea what he does other than write.

It's actually a collection of past JEB aricles, and, as such, doesn't flow really well. In additon to his obsession to the SCal, he seems to have major relationship issues with women. I really didn't like the way he dissed his girlfriend, epecially after the shitty way in which he treated her. (And her teenage son put him on the road. Imagine!)
I met JEB at a book signing. He seemed to be a very nice person but came across to me as being gay.
FLAME AWAY. Just MHO and is shared by many others.

Not that there's anything wrong with that...

+1
Along with feeling sad for him, he also comes off kinda pitiful. He had opportunities that most of us will only dream of, and he pissed away or shite on all of them. It took Woodley's death, Dar Dar's imprisonment, and his boy getting paralyzed for him to have his semi-epiphany. Really? Is that all it took? Most of the book just made me angry at him.

Also, +1
The book has a terrible narrative with the way it jumps around. He especially dumped on that girl.
Lucky for him, the guy can write.

It was a good book. But I didn't come away feeling sorry for him.

Most intense game with more emotion than any game I have been to over the years. Alabama this year is comparable, but back then the feeling inside that bowl was what we who have been to these type games know about. It is not easily described to others who have not experienced it. :-)

I was at that game...definitely ranks as one of the best LSU games I ever saw in person at TS.
My hatred for USC did not come from that game though. I hated ND with a passion back then. Now they aren't even relevant. I have never hated Bama...just the majority of their fans.
