Baton Rouge King Cakes

I seached TD on this, but couldn't find anything. I'd like to send a KC to someone in Virginia, I'd rather buy in BR and ship through UPS, hate to send one sight unseen. Or am I better of just sending direct from a NO shop?
It looks like the limit on a cream cheese cake is 2 days without refrigeration, so is that option out? Has anyone ever had a problem with one going bad in shipping?
Have not shipped one before, advise appreciated.

You are going to do much better ordering from a place that actually ships king cakes out from their store. It’s a huge PITA to do it yourself and the king cake will likely get fricked up in transit.
But if you insist on doing it yourself, make sure you locate an appropriate sized box to ship it in first - this is normally when people realize it’s too much of a PITA to do themselves because “normal” king cakes don’t fit in a “normal” box. You can get a king cake in a bag and you don’t have to worry about the box in a box issue, but those aren’t typically as good.
No clue who is saying this. Some of those Kingcakes sit out at some of these grocery stores for almost a week. And then sit on someone’s counter at home for another week.

Thanks for the advise, I'll stop by Ambrosia since they ship and have generally great products.

ive never heard of this place before but I had one this week and it was up there with some of the best ive had. Similar to Randazzos. You have to put the icing and sprinkles on yourself. It says to microwave the icing but I did not do that and I think it came out better. But it was set up for delivery

Can confirm Ambrosia makes extremely dry king cakes. I wouldn't use them. I considered buying and shipping overnight because cream cheese filling would go bad fast but i found Gambino's Bakery online to be the best option. It wad a $30something flat rate shipping and i sent two king cakes to Florida for a total around $80.
The frosting and sprinkles are packaged in a bag separately and the entire product is frozen before shipping. Takes a little over a day to defrost in the fridge.
