Playing at both next month.

Any insight on either?

I’m I gonna get my arse handed to me? 11 handicap for reference w/playing Pelican and Greystone a lot.

Will I take more pics than strokes?

Any advise is welcomed.

Paynes Valley is wide open and lots of fun.
Ozark National is tough.
Both are very nice. You will enjoy them both.

That’s a matter of personal opinion.

Very well maintained.
PV has zoysia fairways which are like hitting off of plush carpet.
Don’t think Ozark was zoysia, but still very nice.
Buffalo ridge was being renovated when we went, but I’ve hard it is fantastic as well.
Worth the price? That’s up to you. I’m not sure what the individual fees were, as we played as a stay and play package that someone else put together. I know they aren’t cheap, but nothing is these days.
I certainly felt like I got my money’s worth.

if it is well maintained, then i can justify whatever the cost is. I would just be mad if I got there and pay $450 green fees and the tee boxes are shite.

Awesome Thanks..

When my wife suggested that this summer instead of Florida she wanted to go to Missouri I was like "Why??" then she showed me the golf courses near where she was wanting to stay and of course i was like "Why, didn't you lead with that" ..

It will probably be the nicest golf courses you've ever played on. That's the way it was for me, and I went in April.

Wish I could get onto Ozark Nat.'s range and other practice areas anytime I wanted. It has everything you need to get better.

If you have time, highly suggest playing Top of the Rock too. It’s a Nicklaus designed par 3 that sits on the top on a mountain overlooking lake of the Ozarks. Really fun.

Payne’s Valley is wide open. You’ll have to really try to lose a ball there outside of the water.

Ozark is pretty straight forward too. Great place

Also take in the daily Sunset Ceremony while you enjoy a drink at Top of the Rock's restaurant afterwards. Excellent view and ceremony.

Well I played it today… I can concur.. toughest course I’ve played.. us Louisiana folk ain’t used to that kinda elevation changes. Greens were extremely difficult to read.. one of the par 3’s played 221 to pin hit 4i landed green rolled right off the back.. definitely tested my abilities.. definitely want to come back and play it again

The scenery was absolutely incredible, the golf was hard but still had a good time..

Can’t wait for Payne’s on Wednesday

Look forward to the update on Payne’s. It’s a more resort style course, wide open fairways, easier tee shots, immaculate.

Take some pics of the new par 3 they are building there behind the clubhouse and right of 4 or 5. They were working on it a year and a half ago and would love to see the progress. Thank you

Update: played Payne’s Valley Wednesday and holy shite… A++ golf course. The scenery, the water falls, the dramatic elevation changes, hell on a hole on the back 9 you could see Bison roaming on an adjacent hillside. Oh and the golf course from tee to green absolutely perfect. The fairways were wide, plush and impressive, the greens were beautiful but very tricky (reminded me of UClub on steroids) not unfair but getting as close as possible on approach was the key.

19th hole was awesome. And No.. I did not hit it. My daughter was the only one in the 4 to land it.

The ride back to the clubhouse up the mountain through a cave and over bridges was the coolest frickin thing.

The snack shack after 7 with the exclusive merch is where you want to spend money if you’re buying stuff. Grab and Bison dog.

Seriously a must play at least once course.

I do have pics I’ll add when I get home.

Update from my trip

Day 1: Paynes valley
Day 2: top of the rock, Paynes valley
Day 3: cliffhanger, ozark national

Top of the Rock was fantastic. A must if you go.
Cliffhanger is the new par three they’re building, they had 11 holes done. It’s fun, but the holes are very short compared to top of the rock.

If you went and only played Ozark national, youll have a wonderful trip, it’s a great course.
But after playing Paynes Valley, it was just another course. PV is special. All I can say is you have to go. There is nothing else like it, period.

I’m at La Cantera now. It’s an awesome place, wonderful courses. But I miss Paynes Valley.

I’m ready to go back.

Glad you both had great trips. I enjoy seeing Louisiana license plates and LSU apparel on folks up here in Branson.

Some scoff at Branson as a destination because of the traffic, hokey attractions and shows. But as y'all now know, once you get out on these courses, all that other stuff seems a world away. It's the same for getting out and spending the day anchored in a cove on Table Rock.
