Muscadines and dogs

I have a few wild vines and two domestic vines. I noticed this morning that my lab was eating them off of the ground. How concerned should I be? When you Google the toxicity they make it sound like the dog will die if it eats a single one. Is this one of those things where shed have to eat her bodyweight to have any effect?

Is she a 5 pound lap dog? If not, I think she will be fine. I am very far from an expert though. Hopefully some of the vets around here chime in.

She's about 45 lbs.

Every wild animal in the woods eats muscadines, including coyotes. If they can handle it, I don’t see why a domestic dog can’t.

My mutts (lab-like) always eat whatever has fallen on the ground beneath my vines while I’m picking them. No ill effects yet.

Pecans are said to be toxic for dogs. My 70 lb goldendoodle and 7 lb dorkie eats them all the time when they start falling.

I eat grapes a lot and my dog begs for them, from what I’ve read they are toxic to dogs.
You would think if they make your dog sick he will eventually learn to stop eating them

I have 2 vines on a fence and my Catahoula loves them. No issues from him eating them.

My GSD stands on his hind legs to eat the ripe blueberries. No real point I just thought it was funny.

Id bet at worst if it eats enough of them they might get the skitters. My lab eats them and it has not caused any issues but she also eats litter coated cat turds if she can get at them and that doesn't cause her any ill side effects other than disgust from the rest of the family....

I (not a veterinarian) would expect the greatest risk would be swallowing some of them unchewed, with risk of bowel obstruction

her turd was 50% muscadine skin this morning so you're probably right

I don't know about muscadines but close friend of mine is a vet surgeon. He's told me that you can kill a dog with grapes or raisins.
Said they act the same way as antifreeze. Shuts down their kidneys.

It's this. Dogs can and will eat them and be fine most of the time, but the right amount at the right time can cause acute renal failure, and it's quick.

Growing up, our dogs loved muscadines, never bothered them.
