Acquired a new to me AR this week. Looking at setting up this one as a truck gun and to carry around with me on the SXS. What optic do yall recommend? Want a red dot.

What’s your budget?
Holosun works well for not much money.
Aimpoint is bulletproof and has spectacular battery life.

Can’t go wrong with an Aimpoint ACO. $349 on Amazon

Something that says Trijicon on the side.
What's the budget? I'm a fan of LPVO for rifles. A little more versatile than a red dot.

Gonna sound crazy but the Sig Romeo is a good cheap choice.

I suggested this one time on this site and was told it was not cheap. I have a Romeo 5 on my coyote gun that I keep in my farm truck. It’s a good optic for $130.

I have the 5 as well. I haven't shot the gun it has been on too much, but it has been very solid. And I plan to shoot the gun it's being put on this week a lot, so I look forward to testing it's durability.

Might want to look at a 1x prism optic. That way if your battery runs down (assuming it might if it’s a truck gun) you still have an etched reticle. Primary Arms cyclops is a good optic.

Never use anything that is dependent on batteries for a truck gun. Hell, many ppl use FSP and carry handle iron sight M4 setups for truck guns for good reason.
Just get a Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6 and roll with it.

Aimpoint or eotech are the best rugged optics out there. I have started going for all of my optics to always take a common battery that I will always have so been converting to all double aa. Some are a little bigger then what I like in the micros but a little more redundant

I have converted by iron sites to diamond head iron sites.
I have never been super great with iron sites but I was stacking them when I tried my buddies diamond, so got a set and I group waaaay better now

I plan on also having iron sights off on a 45 degree angle

Aimpoint. The Pro really isn’t cheap anymore but it’s still bullet proof and great battery life. 500 bucks should get you one with a good mount.
If you want to drop some real coin, a comp m5s runs a little over 1k but is indestructible and 5 year battery life. Probably overkill though.
Seems like some guys like the Korean or primary arms stuff but I haven’t gotten the chance to use it. It may be something worth looking into, esp price wise.
