Breakfast: Waffle House. I’m just a fan. Also, lots of the other places that will get mentioned are prohibitively expensive in my opinion.
Lunch: second for iverstine, also check out Elsie’s
Dinner: La Lagniappe.

I can’t disagree more.

I’m in the camp that Elsie’s is just a hype train, big portions, every thing completely overdone and gluttonous. Horrible service team. The place is uninspired and gross. Hate it.

Louisiana Lagnignappe has been running black drum as FOTD for 20 years. I don’t think the execution has been there the last several times I’ve been with groups. It’s hanging on by reputation and is in the same price range as the other good restaurants in the thread.

They have a great hot line as well at Iverstines. Really good dailies. The bologna sandwich is really good.

Have not been to La Lagniappe in a few months, but it was as good as always the last time I was there. You mentioned 20 yrs in your post. I think it says something that they have delivered a consistent product for that long.
I’ll be back soon for a quality check.

I also noticed you didn’t have anything negative to say about Waffle House.
