well to be fair, he did have a really good season last year on a bad team. He was one of the best 3 point shooters off the dribble in the league last year.
He was 39% on pullups/off the dribble 3's last year, taking 5 a game. That is an incredible average. He was 30% on those the previous 2 years.
This year he's back to 30%.
He's always been decent on catch and shoot, over 36% every year since his rookie year.

I've seen Shanghai in person, same with Vancouver. Both look much prettier in a picture than in person.
Chicago is a great one.
NYC is still my favorite. I love it from every angle. I love looking at it from the plane coming in, from Jersey, from the statue of liberty, and from the Brooklyn Bridge, and it doesn't need to be nighttime to hide the shittiness to make it pretty (like Vancouver), as NYC looks special night or day.
I would rather eat somewhere on the outskirts of Manhattan, on the water, overlooking the city, than in Manhattan itself. It's fun to be on the outside looking in from that close at a lowkey quiet place knowing how crazy busy it is just across the water in the city.

He needs to be traded this offseason, for anything. And i'm not giving up assets to trade him no matter what. I'd rather just cut him for the final year and eat that salary for nothing than give up any type of asset to dump him.
I would think we could take in a bad contract and get some assets.
The Nets and Jazz both have cap space right now.
I think the Cavs would love to dump some salary to either of them and lessen their gigantic tax bill they will have to pay. As it stands right now they have a $163M tax bill, on top of their $229M salaries.
If they simply dump $10M Lonzo Ball to the Jazz or Nets, that saves them $60M on their tax bill.
This trade right here saves them $90M on their tax bill.
Cavs get Ives Missi
Nets get Poole
Pels get Jarrett Allen (3/$90M left after this year) and Terance Mann (2/$31M left after this year).
Allen is becoming less and less important to the Cavs, and Mann after signing a nice 3 year contract has been disappointing in Brooklyn.
Despite the Cavs sending out $20M and getting back $3M, they are still a 2nd apron team, but this drastically reduces the tax bill. Allen goes from $20M to $30M next year. This gives them a way to reduce their tax bill but the drop off in play probably isn't that big of a deal to them with Missi.
The Nets would likely want a first round pick though, and i'm not sure who's sending it. Yeah the Cavs are trading Allen for Missi and should be compensated for that, but the Cavs are saving $100M by doing this, and that's a pretty big arse cost.
We could also change it up and send Zion to the nets instead of Poole, and then we'd need to take back some worthless salary from the Nets, but that would get us some assets I would think.
I like the idea of DQ playing with another big who can protect the rim and rim run on offense. DQ and Missi have only played 62 minutes together this year, and granted it hasn't been good at all, it's by far the lowest minutes played of any player on the team by a wide margin. The next closest is Karlo, and they've played 131 minutes together, more than twice as much.

There's zero excuse for DQ to play 16 minutes right now. He might have struggled in the first half, but so did everyone on the team besides Missi. When he did play that little bit in the 3rd and 4th, he played really well, and as Joel said on the broadcast when Karlo came to check in, I'd really like to see more of Queen and Missi playing together in that game
I think what is becoming more apparent is that DQ and Zion cannot coexist together.
Zion is a horrible defender. Horrible. The only lineups that are a positive with him are those with Herb in them, and that's so he can make up for his horrible defense.
There's one decent lineup where Z and DQ work well, and that's when Trey and Herb are playing with them. There's only one meaningful person on the team right now that has a positive netrtg with Zion, and that's Herb, and it's 0.1.
Meanwhile DQ and Herb are at 4.0
I"m tired of trying to build a team around Zion. We don't have a competent GM to do it, and even if we could, he'd dribble the ball off his foot or throw it over the goal in the clutch anyway, and that's if he's actually playing and not hurt.
Last night he had a turnover and 2 points in the first 3 minutes of the 4th, and a turnover and fouled a 30% 3 point shooter in the last 3 minutes of the 4th. That's what he contributed in the 4th last night. 1 shot, 2 points, 2 turnovers and fouled a 3 point shooter.
Just move on from him already.

Zion has looked like a top 10 player in the league in the 3rd quarter.
I’m not falling for it though.

And I will gladly vote no on this.
The library has already told me they can operate at less than this.
Get it down to 8.3 or less and I’ll vote yes, b/c I do appreciate how well run our libraries are.

On a positive note, I’ve been making money on every single game betting the opposing teams 3 point shooters to make some threes.

I didn't watch last night's game but the dude had 12 points against a Jokic-less Nuggets team.
Unacceptable.
He can't take over games because he won't get calls late and refuses to shoot enough from outside the paint even though he's very good at that little pull up.
Meanwhile, we saw a true superstar last night beat us.
WIth 7 minutes left we were up 1.
in those 7 minutes, Jamal Murray was responsible for 18 of his teams 21 points, scoring 12 himself
Zion came in with 6 minutes left.
in those 6 minutes he missed a layup, had a turnover, missed another layup, and missed a put back tip in. 0 points.
They've got to trade him right now while he looks like he has some meaningful value.

Did you put parking lines at your house?
Do you not have cameras?
I assume this is an apartment b/c of the parking lines.

I can guarantee there will be accidents with people turning left out of Woodridge.
It was hard enough to do it with two lanes of traffic.
I don’t understand why they didn’t put a traffic circle there, or at least a light.

WE have a problem with a lack of 3 point shooting, so we are gong to trade our best 3 point shooter for a non 3 point shooter?

OP and the person that tweeted this are morons for wording it that way.
It wasn’t a random murder. This wording makes it sound like they walked on the bus and just randomly shot someone just to kill them.
It was an innocent bystander struck by a stray bullet between two pieces of shite.

The Hawks didn't cut Young they traded him for salary filler the Pelicans right now can't even get that for Zion.
Yes they could, very easily. But they want more, as they should.
quote:
Cutting Zion now without getting matching salary in return would kill any hope of future team building as it would put you under the cap limiting your options.
I don't know what any of this means. Every trade has to be done with matching salaries, unless you have cap space, and there's only two teams with cap space, and it ain't us.
The Hawks traded Trae for expiring salaries. key word there is expiring. So they basically traded him for absolutely nothing no different than just cutting him, except they have the option to keep CJ or Kispert next year if they want.
All that being said, Zion and the salary cap/tax situation for this team is irrelevant. We aren't a tax team, we aren't going to be. It makes no difference if we are above or below the cap, but i'd prefer to be below so we can do uneven trades or take in salaries to get more draft capital. Any move right now, or this offseason, should be with the mindset of what this team looks like in 2 years.
quote:
The best time to trade Zion is the off season when more options will be open
I would agree, but if Zion gets hurt again, then those options will be next to nothing. That's the risk in not trading him now. And if he does get hurt again, he's very likely not going to get his future salaries guaranteed so we could cut him in the offseason.

Explain how just cutting Zion would help the team with the current cap situation.
It has little to do with the cap situation. It's about building a team for the future, and Zion ain't in that future.
What do you think the Hawks just did?
Developing a team outside of him and not having to completely change how you play depending on if he's playing or not, is another excellent reason why you're simply better without him.
