The Ole Miss run defense is ranked 120th in the country. That has to be our focal point going into this game. Hit em where it hurts.

263 rushing yards combined against La Tech and SLU. I agree, but I don’t think they can

Their run defense will push our shite in tho. We can’t even run on SELA or Tech. We haven’t run the ball well outside of Jayden in years and this is the worst Oline we’ve had in years. I have zero faith in our ability to run the ball effectively on anyone, we simply haven’t shown that we are capable. I think we win the game but it won’t be because of our run game. I hope I’m wrong tho. I’d love to see our guys figure it out and start pushing people around.

We should be able to run on them. But we should have been able to easily run all over Tech and SLU. We couldn't. I don't expect they'll have any success on Ole Miss either.

They’ll shut down our run game.

We've ran for roughly the same amount of yards in every game this year. If we can run for that against Ole Miss on Saturday I think we win. Ole Miss will have a hard time getting to 100 yards rushing on us.

Well shite. They give up 130 per game. I misread the stat.

That implies we had one to start with.

Well you misread again. That's the number of carries. They give up right around 100 yards a game and 3.09 ypc.

First off, there were some run yards counted as pass yards in the Tech game because of the jet sweeps. If you use a forward pop pass, it counts as a pass play. We ran more outside than inside when they loaded the box.

I only mention this because that is how this offense needs to run the football this weekend. Attack the edges. Run 75-25 OUTSIDE, at least until you can wear them down. We’ve actually had a little success doing it, especially when compared to what we’ve done between the tackles. We just don’t do it nearly enough.

Whether it’s jets, sweeps, counters, quick pitches (all of which we have run at some point over the first 4 games), make their defense prove they can handle our speed at RB and WR and tackle in space. Don’t half-arse this, Sloan. Channel your inner Matt Canada and commit.

Add in your screens and passes to Johnson or Jackson in the flat and you supplement the run by getting our backs the ball outside of the tackles and moving upfield. Based on what Ole Miss has shown this season, I don’t think they could stop this approach.

The question is- will Sloan do this right from the first drive or do it enough? I have my doubts.
