5-4 in the final 9 gets us 23-8

and 11-5 in SEC play. I think that's pretty reasonable and probably a very likely scenario.
And I can't see us not dancing at 23-8, 11-5 even giving our laughable OOC schedule.
I was very outspoken early in the year about the weak OOC schedule and how it migh very well cost us.
I understood and accepted later when Trent explained his reason (and it was not the reason most theorized) but he still probably could've replaced a couple of SWAC/Southland teams with a Southern Miss or South Alabama's and still played home games...
But that's done and if we finish as above I think we're in. Maybe a SEC Tourney win to cinch it.
Geaux Tigers!!

Honestly, if we keep playing like we have been, I think it's more likely that we finish up 7-2 and maybe 2-1 or 3-0 in the SEC Tourney.
So I'm thinking very easy 27-7 by selection time.

I tend to be a little more cautious than most Mule.
I think we might slip up once at home and get one back on the road, thus my 5-4. But I would be really surprised if we don't go at least 5-4. I think that's the worst case.

don't forget that the selection committee always looks at the last 10 games as an indicator of how good a team is playing...especially if they are on the bubble...with that being said, if we go 5-5 in our last 10 being in a weak conference and having half our wins against RPI 200+ we could easily get left out...right now though, i would say we would have to have a complete meltdown in order not win at least 12 in the SEC
we have blown out every game we've won except tennessee on the road and we had them up by 14 in the 2nd half...the only games i can see us losing right now are @ arkansas & @ kentucky...then we may slip up another game such as @auburn or home to florida...so i'm gonna say anywhere between 12-4 to 14-2

Yeah, that's why an SEC tourney win might need to be thrown in given my scenario.
What was your expactation record-wise before the start of the season zealot?

before the season started, i predicted 20 wins & an 8 seed in the tourney...now that i see how bad the SEC is, 20 wins definitely wouldn't get us in but it looks like we are a virtual lock for the tourney though

1 game at a time. We should be in the big Tourney but the selection committee always looks at RPI and how your last 10 games played out. We're still a bubble team right now.

Very good point, Z. Can't coast in at 5-4 in this shite SEC. Need to finish strong.

12-4 looks like it might be good enough for a regular season championship.

I think we can/will do better than that.
-5 of the games are at home.
-only 3 games against teams with winning records in the SEC
-Arkansas & Auburn 3x, they have only won 3 SEC games combined (one was against the other)

Yeah zealot, I thought 12-3 non-conference and 9-7 SEC before the year for 21-10.
I thought the SEC would be down, but it's probably a bit more down than I even expected.
One thing we have going for us is our experience in comparison to our peers in the SEC.
Our starting 5 is more experienced than any other and should bode well barring injury.

We certainly can, but I still have trouble counting road wins.
Auburn isn't all that talented but they are athletic and more experienced than most SEC teams and are capable of throwing in a game like they did at Arkansas.
The piggies you just never know which team will show up..kind of a wild card and Florida is up and down as well.
I know I'm being cautious. We can do better and I hope we do.
