They have been saying yes for lover 10 years. Not sure when or if it will ever be made.

The guy from 'Sum' didn't scare me. Whoever plays clark needs to have an understated intimidation kinda thing going on.

According to the IMDB boards, they are working on it right now.
Bale would make a good Clark, but doubtful. Gerard Butler would probably do a good job. You need a fit guy, not too big, but tough looking.

early to mid-thirties. I like Gerard Butler, i'm not sure if he can do an american accent though.
for the life of me I can't think of anyone else, but I know there are better actors out there for this role.
