1. Ole Miss is not letting him coach in the playoff
2. It’s already confirmed he’s making a firm decision this weekend

Verge is on record saying they would wait until after the playoffs for the right person.

Based on their actions, they think Lane is the right person.

Very underrated question.

I have some real trepidations about the ole miss announcement trying to force a decision announcement from lane.

I think if he wants to coach in the playoffs, he’s probably staying or going to the NFL. There’s also the chance that he could be heading to another playoff team when their coach leaves. There are a lot of other circumstances here that people aren’t thinking about. But if he doesn’t sign by this weekend, I think LSU and Florida should move on.

It is not about coaching the playoffs, it is about being the coach of a rival school during the portal window

Ole Miss folks also said he wasn't coaching in Egg Bowl if he didn't sign extension. Lane called that bluff and I won't be surprised if he does it again.

They will not fire him for not signing an extension. Sexton and Lane know that (regardless of Ole Miss' big talk).

LSU is all in on Lane. They will wait until told they are out of it.

They won’t fire him but they will pull the extension offer basically guaranteeing he leaves unless he wants to turn down more money

Now that makes sense. Turn on a timer when he walks into the office. Alright when that timer dings, this gets shredded.

I don’t want to believe it, but everyone around the program and in media swears we have no backup plan.

I think we probably just double down & if we don’t land lane we’ll wind up with some nobody who takes the job knowing they’re starting as a placeholder on borrowed time.

Like I said… don’t want to believe it. But it doesn’t surprise me.

Lane cannot and will not coach the playoffs for Ole Miss without a signed extension.

Ole Miss will not allow it, and nor should they. And LSU should not wait either because he’s not worth punting on an entire signing day and/or transfer window.
