On sale for 12.49 so I jumped in.
Played a quick round and died. Pretty fun. Game got hard fast.
Reading up on the game and such, I’m sure it gets deep. Anyone have any protips? What should I be prioritizing with my cells early, I have spent 5 cells for a health flask.
Looking forward to this one

I don’t have any pro tips because it’s been years since I played but it was a lot of fun. It’s one of those games where everything before you beat the final boss the first time is the tutorial. After completing your first run the difficulty ramps up rapidly. I quit when rooms started being filled with invisible enemies. I almost picked it back up a while back when the castlevania crossover dlc came out but never did.

that sounds quite intense.
made it to stilt village (biome 4) on my best run last night, met an Elite Pirate captain + friends who obliterated me.
made an unwise choice of selecting a new weapon and discarding the weapon (hard light sword/gun) that got me there
i figure once i get more acquainted with the upgrade systems, skills, synergies, and parry mechanics, things should get easier for completing run 1

I was most successful using the electric whip. There are tons of secrets and alternate paths to unlock. Content for days. They released the game in 2018 and the final dlc was released in 2023.

Just realized I could deposit cells at the collector and they carry over between runs

Hand of the King wrecked me
explosive crossbow was doing work.
frick, this game is tough.

I finally beat hotk. Unique hard light sword, tonic (imagine that, I finally used this and won) and light speed. (Fire dash)
Time for boss cell 1 hard mode and dlc

So, 90 hours in:
This game is goated. I’m on bc3 with one save, bc2 with another.
Grinding through the DLC bosses, they are tough.
I did find the invisible bullshite and yeah, what a pain in the arse.
For a rogue lite metroidvania, I can’t imagine a better game than this.

Great game, I know this is an old thread but I like to use the set-it-and-forget-it abilities where you can just throw out a flamethrower or blades and work on other enemies while the machines do their thing.
If you like rogue lites check out Hades and Hades II. Not metroidvania but still one of the best rogue lites ever. I would play the first one first, a lot of the story carries over into the second one.

The prince of Persia game is similar, not as good, but a decent play. It's usually cheap. Some of the platforming DLC's are just mean. I've never been so frustrated after 500 deaths.

Got every achievement on 1, haven’t tried 2 yet.
Deployables are high on my list to acquire for sure. Been enjoying Cleaver the most lately.

Interesting, I’ll check it out. Really enjoying this genre at the moment.
Still stuck in bc3 with both my saves. I take too much damage between The Concierge and timekeeper. Stilt village and forgotten sepulcher
