Lane went 5-5 in his first season at OM.

Uh oh, you may say.

His defense was ranked dead last in the SEC. Scoring, Total.....last.

His offense? 1st in total, 3rd in scoring.

Our defense was top 5 last season and will be back up there again. He simply figures out the offensive side of the ball. We arent going to be last in defense.

We will be top 5 in offense. Lane simply has never not been. He's never been lower than 3rd in the SEC in Total Offense. He's been 1st in 4/6 seasons.

Chill.

Problem is you got guys here, posting that even though it’s not their money, they want him to deliver results this year since donors are paying him 13mm.

If Brian Kelly can take over a dumpster fire and get LSU to the SECCG in his first year, I have faith that Lane Kiffin can be successful at LSU.

Kiffin is the Portal King. He can do anything.

I mean when you get paid that, you should put up results. NIL wise though we’re no different than all the other schools with money. He definitely has his work cut out for him.

I hear you. But temper what “results” actually means.

“Results” will be defined differently.

Me? I did not anticipate these issues with ole miss going like they are.

But they are. I still have faith in Lane Kiffin.

But I’m also not guaranteeing the playoffs in year one. It’s not even spring practice yet.

Sure. But don’t get upset if he doesn’t. It is still year one.

Missing playoffs is Even a reality I can stomach since it’s…..year one.

I see almost none of those from anyone who is not a troll or has been anti-Kiffin from way back.

I expect the team to be competitive and not look anemic on either side of the ball, but I figure it may take a year or two for things to come to complete fruition.

This is what I felt, but never verbalized. You certainly want to see brains and execution on both sides. Then eliminate game killers on special teams.

I’m fine with seeing growth.

You're right. My post was a bit exuberant. I revised it.

That’s all I do here.

However I also tried tk give Brian Kelly too much leeway as well.

That Ole Miss team was the worst in the country on defense, among P5 teams. Incredibly, worse even than Bo Pelini's Tigers. Fittingly, their late December rivalry game in the pandemic year of 2020 was a 53-48 slugfest in a rainy Tiger Stadium, orchestrated by Max JOHNSON!! Let that sink in

and their QB was Matt Corral. And their entire run game was essentially John Rhys Plumlee.

I really wish people had access to alternate timelines and could understand these QBs in a world where they didnt have Kiffin.

Matt Corral got drafted in the 3rd round because of Kiffin and then never made a roster in the NFL and became a backup in the UFL.

I totally expect a 9-3/8-4 type season with the schedule we have especially in November. It's not a great first year schedule for a offense that'll be basically starting from scratch.

LSU's team for 2026 is in dire shape now. Only 21 scholarship players returning; no QB, no kicker or punter. Lane will have to seriously bust his buns the next couple of weeks to field a competitive product on the field this fall.

Next year is seriously a rebuilding job. At least it's likely rebuilding just one year, not four years like a basketball team I know.
