Yeah, the "walk-ons" deal is tricky. I seem to remember that as an offset to the increase of roster to 105, there will be no more walk-ons. If a player wears a football jersey, he will have a scholarship. That is the way I remember the change.

In 30 days we will all be way more excited. I’ll say this we in better shape now than when O left us and BK did just fine his first year with less

I was surprised that LSU has 53 scholarship players after about 30 going to the portal, others leaving early for the NFL, others exhausting eligibility, etc. Maybe a couple of guys actually have scholarships were left off because I thought they were walk-ons. Supposedly, LSU only had 39 scholarship players for that K-State bowl game.

So LSU still needs to sign another 33 portal players to get back to 85. That is not counting any more portal defections.

Pretty much. There will be no more walk-ons. Which will be interesting to see how that works out.

yeah there will be no more walk-ons which is weird but it will be interesting to see how that works out. A lot of kickers used to earn their scholarship that way.

Yeah, but with an ungodly amount of scholarships, there is plenty of room for them to get scholarships. But I assume you are talking about earning one during the season. The coaching staffs simply have to do a better job of evaluating kickers during recruiting season.

Walk ons got a call this past week from the staff letting them know whether they were going to be on scholarship next year (i.e. on the team) plus they got their $$$ (NIL/Rev Sharing whatever).

Correct. Teams used to take 3-4 walk-on kickers and the one who turned out to be the best would earn a scholarship. That doesn't look like it will be the case to happen anymore.
