This is pretty cool to have this in our small city.
American Magic
The $20.8 million American Magic headquarters at the Port of Pensacola is finally complete.
Pensacola Mayor D.C. Reeves said at his weekly press conference Jan. 6 that the completion of the project establishes the city as a preeminent home for sailing and watercraft innovation in the United States.
The headquarters has athletic training facilities, engineering, marine manufacturing, sail making facilities—including what Tyson Lamond (American Magic COO) said was probably the fourth largest sail loft in the U.S.—and an aerospace-grade composite manufacturing cleanroom all under one roof.
“What we've got down there at the port now is a facility that ultimately is able to be utilized across all aspects of the sport of sailing, in the aerospace game and also in the defense game,” Lamond said. “And that's another industry we're working really hard on. How can we bring our technology to the defense industry? And we have a lot of people coming tomorrow from that industry, and we have some follow-up meetings after that.”

Mostly BP money. There have been much worse uses of that money since the spill.
