Our fourth of five national championships. We were so lucky that year. I still remember losing to Arkansas is 3OT and leaving Tiger Stadium in a virtual trance of defeat. It was all over. Then WVU-Pitt and Dave Wannstadt on a broken leg beating ole Rich Rod.

Enjoyed it. Had some ohio state people sitting next to us. They left at halftime, saying they would rather party on Bourbon street than watch the second half, said they were having such a great time other than the game.

I despise Rich Rod for one reason. He took the Alabama job before that season and was there like 1 day. Then he changed his mind and went back to WVA. Then Bama hired Saban. If that idiot had stayed Saban would never have been at Alabama. He would have been somewhere else, but not there.

I was there with my husband. There was a line Ohio state guy sitting by us. I remember it wasn’t going great to start and Hawthorne said on the radio (I like to listen during the game) something along the lines of don’t worry .. this has been the way we started all season.
Anyway .. we eventually pull ahead and the OSU guy tells us that he went to the last championship game they were in .. and lost then too. I don’t think he had plans to go to any other championship games with OSU playing — his track record sucked.
I on the other hand have been to 4 and we won 3! Not shabby.

Second best game in LSU history, only behind Clemson in 2020.
Like the Clemson championship game, LSU trailed early -- it looked bleak vs Ohio State after Beanie Wells long run, LSU's first three-and-outs, then OSU's second drive. But we still believed in Les back then-- and he delivered!

What a night! I was 14 and went out with buddies after the game. We all had shitty fake IDs but Bourbon bouncers didn’t care that night. Was the first time I ever got really drunk. Puked outside Pat O’s and remember Ohio State fans looking at me in disbelief/horror haha.
