Why does this shite even exist? Its more insulting to the guys who have to interview knowing theyre only there because its to check off a box.

And whenever a black coach doesn’t get hired, Ryan Clark and Stephen A Smith whine and complain

This would have been a fresh conversation like 15 years ago

Chiefs offense has been awful since Eric B left

It makes white liberals feel morally superior. And it's not a coincidence it's the Rooney Rule. They are very liberal Democrats.

Its also an insult to black candidates because their time is being wasted to check off a box

Exactly. You think the team that hires John Harbaugh has any interest in vetting or interviewing any other candidates. Why should they have to, its their money and their organization hire and fire, spend don't spend as you see fit.

Serious question:
When Mike McDaniel goes on his next NFL head coach interview (or even back when the Dolphins interviewed him a few years back) doe he count towards the Rooney Rule?
(dude is biracial, only 1/2 black).
Maybe he only counts for "1/2 a point" under the Rooney Rule.
See, it just goes to show how STUPID this rule is.

Yes

The Dolphins and 49ers were awarded extra draft picks due him being hired and being 1/2 black. So yes.

Dave Canales is another coach that surprised people when they discovered he meets the Rooney Rule requirement

Doesn't seem to be insulting for those taking advantage of Affirmative Action
... though it should be.

Can they deny the interview or are they forced to take it?

They can. That's how the 49ers got caught when they hired Mariucci. They requested to interview minority candidates but they turned them down and they figured they were in the clear.
